Yes, my reasons. With wings that move as extra limbs there can be sudden changes in direction, just as your running can change in a split second from jog to sprint, planes and jets, can increase their thrust, but what of their agility. At higher and higher speeds they require more dramatic measures for turns, which are not very agile. In fact, to a trained fighter pilot they are very predicatble. You cannot dodge if you are going it the path of bullets. Humans can practice a certain way to avoid something, and if need be we will do some ankle breaking moves to avoid serious injury. I suspect this is the same for dragons. The natural agility living beings get far exceeds the limitations of technology, but there is no way we will reach speeds that technology provides.

Provisionally, yes, as they can execute tighter turns and even stall to an absolute stop, go into a fall, and pull into a dive, much like any large bird of today can do. Are they as fast as a plane? Depends on the plane. A twin engine Cessna might not get away, but even a small jetliner could easily pull away from a dragon and leave it behind. A military warplane could probably fly circles around a dragon, and blast it out of the sky just by using the chainguns - not to mention heat-seeking missiles that would lock onto the excessive heat in the dragon's phlogiston bladder.
However, if the dragon is the genius level, magic-using, Dungeons and Dragons variety, they would concentrate on the pilot, using spells designed to mess with the mind like Hypnotize, or instant kills such as Power Word :Death, or even a simple spell like Magic Missile, which targets an individual, never misses, and ignores intervening materiel - like the glass of the cockpit. A single Magic Missile cast by a dragon is overkill to a 0 level human.

The ancients mistook meteors as dragons. They saw the fire, some times the damaged area where the meteor fell, and at the impact locations, high quality iron was found. This is where some of the first steel swords came from as mining techniques where not so advanced.

BTW, I have a +1 mace and only take half damage. Now how do I get out of the dungeon without using the Wizard Key?

Yes they are.

They do not require a runway for take-offs and landings.
They do not require a flammable fuel.
They can drift on a thermal when they get tired.
They don't have to follow a flight plan, so they can make detours without waiting for the control tower to make flight adjustments and give them confirmation.
Flying foul is a snack and does not cause a crash because the jets are damaged. (no jets, no damage)
They don't get flat tires on landing.
They are not often seen so they don't get shot down over foreign countries - that can really slow you down!
One does not have to unload freight, the dragon simply lets go of it when they get close to the ground. They don't even have to take the time to land they can just keep going on to the next destination.
They can make much tighter turns than aircraft.

if they exist then the answer would be yes. look at birds they move their wings and tail feathers to opposite of the wind to turn and/or pick up speed or slow down . they can feel the air around them so why not dragons. now air plains would still be faster.

now this will tell you more but I'm shur you.ve already saw it be cause I sent it to you every queston lol hahahahahah

Yes they are, as they are animate and planes are inanimate.. Dragons live in another realm now so you won't see them flying around.. Word of caution :- Be careful if you meddle in the affairs of Dragons, as from their point of view, you are crunchy and taste good with tomato sauce.. Love and Light..BB.. )O(
