Any decent photographer in the business is going to want between $3,000. and $5,000. to put together a portfolio for you. Anyone who offers to do it for less is a hack.

Thousands of young girls aspire to become models and their reasons are the same as yours. Very few succeed.

Go to a reputable modelling agency. They will tell you in a minute whether you even have a chance. If they reject you, refocus on some other career path.

First of all, you need to be realistic in your expectations. What kind of modeling are you looking at doing? Think about it, than try to find some commercial work examples to use as a comparison. Do you honestly see yourself as one of those models? For example, the average, fashion/catwalk & print model has a very specific type. You really need to be about 5'9" to even begin to be considered. (Shorter models are around, but there's usually something strikingly unique about them. ie, Kate Moss, Gia, etc.) Wearing a dress size anything larger than a 2 probably won't get you hired either. You're a good age for modeling, but even 18 is on the older side of the beginning modeling spectrum. I'm 21, but I've been modeling since I was a child. The younger you can get a start, the better. Another issue to factor in: Where are you located? If it isn't Los Angeles, New York, or Miami, finding legitimate agencies and photographers becomes much, much harder. Basically, most agencies outside of those areas within the United States are scam agencies. A real agency (such as Ford, Elite, etc) will NEVER, I repeat NEVER charge you to be a model for them. You're making money for them by purely being hired. If an agency asks you for money up front, or to pay for "test shots", they're scam artists.

As for the Miss Teen USA contest, you've really got have some pageant experience behind you. Again, the youger you start the better. Most of those girls have been doing it since they were children. Look for local pageants taking place in your area, it's a good place to start.

If worse comes to worse, you should hire a local professional photographer to do some headshots for you. It's a good investment. Get lots of copies, and put your vital stats (height, weight, other measurements, eye colour etc) on the back. If there are colleges/universities in your area, you may be able to find photography students willing to do TFP (Trade/Time for Prints). This is a great way for new models to build their portfolio up. Also, always take along a friend, male if you have one, to every private shoot with any photographer. You can never be too cautious! There are lots of sickos out there who prey on young women.

In any case, best of luck to you.

The modeling industry in the USA is located in New York City. If you want to be a professional high-fashion model, you must live and work here.

The current height for a professional NYC model is 5'8" tall and 125 pounds.

The modeling agencies pay for the photographs. Once you make money as a model the agency deducts the money you made for anything they put out for you, such as photographs, living arrangements in NYC, etc.

Well I hope that Swaggers push is the real deal, and I think it is because they seem to really be putting alot of time into it and are giving him a load of airtime. His mic skills aren't really that bad, and besides lisps are cool, and he has got to be one of the best mat wrestlers in the world right now. He is the two-time two-time All American American World Heavyweight Champion, I was just not happy when he first won because Jericho should have had a longer title reign. BQ: Well it wouldn't exactly be a "new" rivalry, but a feud between Jack Swagger and Christian would be awesome to see again. They work really well together in the ring, and now maybe Christian will finally win a World Title in the WWE. BQ2: Against Swagger, but I don't want him to win because quite frankly I'm not a fan. And his fued with Drew was pretty good but he is so corny and lame when it comes to jokes, like the Braveheart act.

Get some real photos taken by pro photographers, and then send them to different modelling agencies!

Enter local beauty pageants. Good way to get your "start." If you live near a major city, you can lookup modelling agencies and just "walk-in." The legit ones won't ask you for money to snap photos of you.
