A lot of people do not really understand the 2nd Amendment...obviously you haven't actually read it.
Here it is (from memory...didn't look it up):
"A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The first part of the Amendment explains the rationale behind the idea of allowing private ownership of weapons. If it began with: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms...", then your point would be valid. However, every word in the Constitution was carefully considered and calculated to convey very specific meanings; owning a gun for target shooting, hunting, or because you think its cool was not their intent.
This means that the founding fathers envisioned that our country would be protected by citizen-soldiers who would use their own weapons when called to fight an armed enemy. We had no standing army in 1791...we had to rely on these "minute-men".
Today, we have an army, air force, marines, navy, and coast guard. There is no more need for citizen-soldiers.
Also, the founding fathers could not have imagined the kind of killing machines modern weapons have become. It is virtually certain that if they knew that weapons now can fire hundreds of high-powered rounds per minute, then the 2nd Amendment would be phrased very differently.
The Courts have always had to balance the rights of the people. Yes, you may (arguably) have the right to own a gun, as I do, but other citizens have the right not to be shot by some punk with a Glock. Therefore, the legislatures and the courts have the power to place reasonable restrictions on gun ownership in the interest of public safety.
In sum, it is a myth to think that you have an absolute right to own and use a gun.
Good Luck!

........And who's to say we won't revolt again? I'm ready, are you?
Now I do think that the government should make it harder to be able to get a gun. However if they try to outlaw guns, it will be just that, try. There are too many unregistered guns, too many hunters and sportsman and the fact that people can make guns in their own home makes it impossible!
I mean what is the government going to enforce if it comes down to an outlaw? Are they going to raid every US citizen's home, place of work, storage unit, etc.? I don't think they will ever have the manpower it takes to accomplish that, and for that I am very glad!
The very minute I am told that my forefather's given right is taken away from me, I will denounce the government and live like the Amish. Then I won't have to pay taxes or SS (which I will never see again anyways) and I'll still have my first means of protection: guns.

The liberals of this country, like Nancy Pelosi ( And Hillary Clinton ) would love nothing more than to ban private ownership of firearms as given to us in the US Constitution. She has made it a personal crusade to do just that.
And yes, when the government became too big, our Colonial fathers did indeed revolt against England. And rightly so. And I believe that if push comes to shove, and they try to completely ban ownership of weapons in this country, they are going to get a fight they didn't bargain for. I personally, would NEVER surrender my weapons. I'll be damned if I live like a slave to some liberal government!

As long as we keep the polititians out of office... that is, those who want to ban guns, we will have no problem. I sure hope we can do this. The fact is that many of the law abiding citizens who own firearms do not vote. Yes, it's unconstitutional but once a certain element gets too big in office, together they can change all kinds of things. It's wrong but it's life. We will lose more freedoms than that if we keep going the way we are. Everyone should vote!

the second amendment states "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
If you are part of that well regulated militia, then that is great. I have a problem with everybody, like convicted violent criminals having a gun.

We choose the government, so if we don't like what they're doing we need to vote for someone else.
Yes, we have the right to bear arms, but guns do need to be regulated. There would be alot more crime if we didn't. And who needs a fully automatic assault rifle or something like that? Those were meant to kill with, not go deer hunting with.

Yeah, well not everyone was ballsy enough to leave England, and now there isn't really anywhere left to go. We'd need a base of operations and it doesn't exist yet.
However, there would be enough people who care about things like this that you could easily start a new country and revolt against the US.

Sing it brother, if they are going to ban weapons then they will have to do it out of my cold redneck dead hands. The only problem is the government can do what they wont, that is why it makes them the most organized crime in America. As long as a republican is in office the right to bear arms will stand.

People who fear firearms are attempting to force their fears on the nation. They blame weapons for the crime versus the person that wields it. Their plan is to make the honest criminals obey a gun ban law. When the criminals do not obey yet another law, the anti-gun advocates will blame the companies who make gun powder.
My take is if you don't like guns, don't buy one. I didn't after selling mine years ago.

That is why you NEED to vote republican next year. Liberals think that the legal guns are the ones killing people. The only guns that are going to be taken away are law abiding citizens guns, and the bad guys are all going to have them, and we are going to be defensless!!
