Ten? Well, my favourites are -
1. Theda Bara - Played female villians, usually seductresses. The orign of the term 'vamp', she was a strong influence on Isabella Rosellini's character in "Death Becomes Her".
2. Clara Bow - Played girl-next-door and dramatic heroines, and in rela life was dogged by sexual scandal. Failed in 'talkies' because of her high-pitched voice that could not be recorded at the time; "Will And Grace"'s Karen Walker resembles her in many ways.
3. Mary Pickford - everything from young girls to dramatic roles, the lady was truly versatile and talented.
4. Greta Garbo - Started in silence, and ended there in some ways, but was a magnificent presence on screen.
