Georgia, the state, was originally settled by criminals from england to serve as a buffer between the spanish in florida and the english further north.

There was no church established in Georgia until about 1760 when Daniel Marshall organized a Baptistchurch (Separatist), Hebron, near Augusta in northwestern Georgia.

Earlier, in the 1740s George Whitefield (also spelled Whitfield), a disciple of the Wesley Brothers (founders of Methodist faith) made missionary trips starting from Savannah but did not form a church. However, he did organize an orphanage in Savannah.

Christianity was the religion before Georgia became a state. It was settled by Christians.

Georgia, as in United States or Georgia as in teh country?

If you are speaking of the state, it started off christian, and was founded by English settlers with Oglethorpe.
