You need to remember this...although your answer was more educational and well thought out, and may very well have been the "correct" answer, the questioner decided what the "BEST" answer was, not the "CORRECT"
But you are right, why bother?
THAT IS WHY I ONCE LISTED THE QUESTION "DO YOU THINK 'BEST ANSWERS' ARE OVER-RATED?"
NOT MANY PEOPLE SEEMED TO THINK SO. TELLS ME ENOUGH OF THESE PEOPLE HERE

I feel your pain. And I agree with all of your previous answers, unfortunately you'll probably find this happens more than once.
I've just seen one of my answers (the only one to the question) rated as No Best Answer by someone who seems a little vindictive because I spent a long time finding sources and links to answer the question. Am I angry? There's no point. Am I baffled? No, because there are people on here who try to ruin the spirit of what the site was intended for. Am I upset? A little, because of the time and effort I spent trying to help someone who then didn't bother choosing a Best Answer anyway.
Try not to let this get in the way of the fact that you obviously strive to provide well researched and thorough answers, something this site needs more of. Don't let this incident change that. We've all been there and unfortunately we'll all find ourselves there again

Keep in mind that some people post questions looking for a specific answer, especially if it's a politically, religiously, or otherwise emotionally charge questioned.
I'm pretty new to Yahoo Answers, but I'm really enjoying it. It's a fun little hobby. I usually hope my answer is the best answer, but the real reason is it's a safe way to get your opinion out there and a fun little game too.
I really hope you enjoy Yahoo Answers, and will continue to post questions and answer them too.

It's frustrating to pour your heart out in a question with facts, sources, and statistics, only to turn around and have the worst answer picked as the best. Unfortunately, it seems that person picked what he/she wanted to hear, but to each his own, I suppose.
Don't let it bother you too much; it's okay to shrug it off with a healthy, "I tried, but oh, well." Just remember to answer with honesty and be yourself, and even if your answer isn't picked the best, just remember that there's always next time. ^_^

to accumulate points why else? just keep answering , one day you will be voted as best answer. Then you can once again feel proud and continue in what you once felt as a pointless exercise!

There are people out there who have very little idea of some of the implications of their stupid questions so they do not bother to get the question itself in proper context.
