You have to have the WEP or WAP security key in order to get your new laptop online.

If you dont remember it then you will need to log into your routers configuration screens and put in a new security key. But you will have to put the new key in your old computer also to allow it to get back on the internet.

It may be that you have set WEP security and therefore need the key. However, you may have also limited wireless access to only allow particular MAC addresses. Your new laptop will have a different MAC address from your old one.

Either way, you need to access your router settings page. Get to a machine that is connected to the router, either physically or wirelessly and type in the IP address of the router in the address bar of a web browser (internet explorer, firefox, etc).

If you don't know the IP address of your router, again, use a machine that is connected to the router, go to start->run and type 'cmd' then hit return. Then in the prompt type 'ipconfig' and the IP address of your router will be listed under 'default gateway'.

Once you're there, play around with the security settings until your new laptop can get access.
