I know the lyrics are speaking about a girl, it's just I have no idea what he's talken about.

I always thought the song was about a breakup, argument, or just expressing love to your significant other. I love this song and what I got from the lyrics is that it might have been a long distance relationship or a relationship that had to overcome alot of obstacles or problems. I dont know for sure this is just my opinion.
