They wake up flatter?

nobody actually knows if that actually happens. there hasn't been any scientific proof of what people dream when they die... because they never wake up the next day.

However, I've had plenty of dreams where I "die" in a dream. I'm still here...

It's a myth, that does't happen. If you don't believe me then I can prove it. Research lucid dreaming then start practicing it. Once you finally get a lucid dream (depending on the person, make take a few days to a few weeks) try jumping off of a cliff, you'll see that nothing happens when you hit the ground.

I used to have dreams like that all the time, where I'd fall and wake up at the moment of impact. However, to my knowledge, these dreams have never actually killed me.

Unless they have a heart attack from the stress of the dream and are revived in order to tell the tale . . .

Sounds a bit far fetched to me, though.
