It's a product from days of yore, and it pschologically makes them feel young.

I didn't notice that they wore speedos more than anyone else who shouldn't but here is my best guess.
When I was young and beautiful, I was also very insecure. I am now middle-aged, wrinkly and fat but surprisingly more secure with myself and less concerned with what other's opinion of me is.
I was never a speedo-wearer but would have no problem walking in public wearing one, with my big fat stomach hanging over it because I couldn't care less what others think.
I sort-of hope that one day we can all become old men who wear speedos.

What do you mean? I wear speedos at the swiming club we all do. Speedo for speed man. Its like why do I wear boxers & briefs, boxers when im chilled, briefs when im active, like Tae Kwon Do.
To the atitude guys who answered :(( Its their choice man, leave em alone. Respect thats what you need to learn.

because back in their days that's what the famous swimmers wore and that what everyone in their generation wore. when we grow up the new generation might be wearing somethig else and ask why do all the old people wear trunks
