Preferance : Refers to Choice, ie Blond vs. Brunette/ Skinny vs. Fat/ Blue eyes vs. Brown eyes/ Tall vs. short

Orientation: Refers to an innate attraction/in born bearing.

Lifestyle: Refers to how a person lives, what surroundings, accomodations, habits, tastes, clothing..etc

Morality: conformity to the rules of right conduct; moral or virtuous conduct.

Values: the ideals, customs, institutions, etc., of a society toward which the people of the group have an affective regard. These values may be positive, as cleanliness, freedom, or education, or negative, as cruelty, crime, or blasphemy.



Am I the only one who get a knot in my stomach when I see these words used indescriminantly?

Oh, I almost forgot:

Legal Marriage: the LEGAL institution whereas two adult human beings have made a contract with each other, agreeing to certain terms and conditions whereas their relationship is defined.
That affords this couple a certain set of legal rights, protections and priveledges.

Civil Union: A cheep immitation of legal marriage that does not afford the same amount of legal recognition or set of rights, protections or priveledges.

DOMA: The Defense of Marriage Act, an act signed into law by then President Bill Clinton which basically denies the Federal recognition of any form of Same-sex marriage or Civil Union.

I'd certainly like to see more precision applied to arguments here and elsewhere. The Religion and Spirituality category is one that could particularly use a common dictionary and thesaurus.

Maybe the only reason you get a knot in your stomach is when others don't share the same view as you do?

Your definitions may not be the same as everyone elses.

BTW.....Civil unions might not be a CHEAP subsitution for marriage if you include all of the rights and priviledges. Could it be that some of you feel the need to be accepted and will force your views on others, even if the others have no influence your lives anyway?
