Its harmful in a physical way, spiritual way, and emotional way; maybe socially.

Physical pain happens every day. Leaves scars as a reminder of why, who, where, and when you last cut. In the future, it might not be a good thing to have the reminder-- especially if its a negative and unresolved feeling (why you cut). However, it can also help. I've stopped cutting, and haven't even thought about it because I look at the scars everyday and remind myself that I'm stonger than then.

Emotionally, cutting can hurt as well. The scar on whatever part of your life is shown through the scar on your skin. Emotional scars never fully heal, reguardless of what people say. You can get over it, get past it, but it'll always be there.

Socially: You'd have to hide the scars if you're ashamed of them, or do not want them to be seen as a consequence of being "thrown in the looney-bin." Also, people might see you differently, ask questions that can make you feel even worse than the current mood was, or they can make you a complete outcast because you feel nobody knows what you're going through and nobody understands the pain.

But, here's some advice. If you're gonna do it, do it the right way-- especially if you're going to kill yourself. Take some asprin (it thins the blood and it makes it run faster), intake some alcohol (also a decoagulent), and cut along the vein. The deeper the better.

However, if you're not trying to kill yourself, its not worth it. It might help now, but down the line, it'll just make you feel like an ***.

***don't take the advice the wrong way. I tell it like it is. Don't be Emo***

No, because it's no solution; you're only causing harm to yourself because it's something you have control over. Depression comes in many degrees, and what you're experiencing goes far beyond feeling sorry for yourself or having a bad day.
Yes, your attitude can make a difference in many situations, but true clinical depression cannot be cured by "pulling yourself up by the bootstraps" or "thinking happy thoughts". You don't need to be ashamed, but you do need to take responsibility. You need to get help. If you can't or don't know how, talk to someone who can help you. Go to your parents, a teacher, counselor, minister, hospital emergency room, if necessary. No matter how dark things seem now, they will get better, if you get help and learn about this. Some day, you will even look back and be amazed at what you've learned for having gone through the experience. Please don't keep hurting yourself; get some help.
Best of luck and God bless.

there's your brain that works hard to keep ur heart alive and your heart pumps hard to keep your brain alive..but both of them are working hard to keep YOU alive-don't tell me you're gonna let them down..

btw..i felt like that too..some time ago-wanted to jump from the top of this building(40 floors up)n many other horrible things for a long period of time but then later on I thought..why should i do that? I fall off and I break my bones and die and I'll be on the head lines tmr and then what?

my heart and my brain was telling me two different things. My heart is all about my and other emtoion before n after:all the pain me n other will go through and as for my brain, it doesn't even touch the emotion part n takes on the reality:I'll become history and miss out what will happen next and i don't want to be history yet. that's when i decided i'll work-for myself and show 'myself' that I'm worth living my life out..
I researched on suicide and depression and that stuffs..found I was suffering from depression-my symptoms matched

anyway who could i go for help? my parents would only deny everything and my friends and teachers would all go "nono you shouldn't think that" "you shouldn't do that" and blah blah blah..i've had enough of them telling me this n that and i'm not gonna go through that again so i decided to work myself out..

though i'm not religious(buddhist here) i prayed to God to make me stronger n so on..when u have noone to listen to u or noone u wanna talk to dude..pray to God..it helps you go on when u can't and remember depression is a condition and suicide?-a decision

lolz..you better excercise more too-doing them makes your brain release special type or enzymes(or whatever they are called) which is reponsible for your emotion:happiness
and the more u excercise, the more your brain will secrete them-the more happiness you could feel n don't forget to enjoy what u are doing otherwise-it doesn't help. Forget not that your brain wires your thinking-rewire ur brain, you could be more happier than your brain is letting you think

and find something to do that interests you-even if u are not interested-try if u could be interested ^ . ~...i hope that helps

You really shouldn't do that. Think about it, if you die and if hell exists, you'll have an eternity of suffering to look forward to. If you don't die, you'll probably go to a psychiatric institution. Either way, it ends bad. Is there anything in life really worth killing yourself for? Sure, it might be bad now, but it will get better in time. You should really get help, there's medicine that can you make feel better.

cutters are not typically suicidal just self destructive. anxiety medication seems to be the leading correction tool I have seen used for this on everything online.
