ive just fitted a second hand rear axle on a 1986 fiesta xr2, since doing this the back end is very scarey, ive now replaced both rear shockers and both rear trailing arms but its no better, after measuring the gap between the trailing arm and the wheel i found that the passenger side gap is half the size of the other side.

Looking at the body build manual, the dimensions for both Mk1 and Mk2 are the same, but there were modifications to the mk2 XR2 to make the handling softer compared to the Mk1.

The only thing that can cause the dimension differences that you have is the length of the axle panhard rod ( the bit that connects the axle to the car body across the back of the car.

You need to check the length of this against the original, if you get stuck I still have both models of XR2 available and can check the lengths of both bits, but it won't be till next week.
