No, but they sure as hell didn't die to enable so many leftist idiots the right to bash our military.
I don't care what anyone thinks of this war. If you don't respect our troops, you are *not* worthy of the sacrifices that have been made on your behalf for the past 230+ years.
Chi - sadly, far too many. Quite a few of the more rabid morons on here, obviously, but did you not hear about William Arkin? That SOB is employed by the Washington Post and called our troops "mercenaries" and said they have obscene amenities. (Funny - I thought the left said they didn't have enough equipment - which is it?!?) He further proved what a rotten POS he is by implying (pretty clearly!) that our troops should be grateful no one is spitting on them when they return. That attitude is beyond loathsome and I really wish the SOBs who feel that way would just get the hell out of my country. I'd be *delighted* to help them along with a boot right up the backside!
And you know I think you're wonderful. ;o)

The fact that some don't cherish the rights that so many soldiers died for is the evidence of people who don't worry about it.
So, If they don't worry about it this should mean that it's not a problem any more and they just don't appreciate what they have.
Conclusion, Our nation did a great job on protecting our rights and the rights for others.
Ricky V, I'm sorry but it was Japan who attacked us first not the Nazi. I know what I'm talking about, you just don't understand my point. You are bold but wrong.
Oh, I don't get my info from "movies" but from history books.

People should always respect those who died for their country whether they agree with the conflict or not. Giving up your life for a cause is the ultimate sacrifice and until an individual is preapred to do that and has been situations where that was a distinct possibility they have no right to censure or judge, regardless of any political or apathetic opinions. Some of my muckers didn't make it back from iraq and afghanistan and I would deal very harshly with anyone claiming their deaths were unimportant or not deserving of respect.

Well I was told 16 Million Americans died. What a pile of poo. Besides with, the troops did not die for your rights and freedoms. They were sent with little idea what was going on.
canyoustandthelight -- you have no idea of what was going on. If you were old enough to watch the old Hollywood movies you should know by now the American ignorance of what was at stake. Americans did not go to war in a princely fashion - they went to war because the Nazis declared war on the US. Americans got more of their involvement back because the Allies supported them hugely in the war in the Pacific.

I certainly hope their lives were not so in vain as that. I believe most people, whether thay believe in the good causes for a war or not, still would look at the individuals as well respected. I like to find the best in people. :)

I always respect those who put their lives on the line for what they believe in, whether I agree with whatever that is or not.
And, yes, that includes enemy troops, and even liberals, who do equal harm, in their own way, often enough.
But then, I think PEOPLE deserve respect period, unless they prove themselves unworthy in deed or manor.

What right were they fighting for? The right not to be persicuted on basis of religion? What rights did they fight for? They went to war to help their allies, to prevent the deaths of more people, they went to war to save the names and governments of their countries. Neither of which are really rights.
I do think that anyone who died for a cause that they belived in is a hero and should be remembered, my problem is what right are you saying people dont canre about?

ABSOLUTELY .... I couldn't agree with you more ... People need to show patriotism and remember how they felt during WWI as well as how the felt on 9-11-01.
How quickly we forget.
