Have a little human feeling--a hole for a hamster is really small--give it a little dignity, even if you have none yourself!!

I think this is a matter of personal choice. Would it be more meaniful for you to have a grave for him? Or does the hamster not necessarily mean anything to you other than a random rodent?

If the hamster held a special place in your heart (or someone else's) why not make him a little grave in the garden? ("Casket" optional.) When I was a little kid & my hamster died, I buried him in a small cardboard pencil box in our garden. As my ferrets died a few years back, I buried each of them under my mom's big tree, wrapped in their favorite blankets/bedding.

On the other hand, if you don't think a burial is in order or needed, than feel free to "throw him away." It's completely up to you -- no one can make the right choice for you.

im not sure wether you were joking or being serious, but if your serious then clearly you should bury him. Animals are not toys to chuck away once you have finished playing with them!

When I was a teenager, I had a wonderful cat, who meant so much to the family. So we had him cremated. I dont know it vets do that to something as small as a hamster, but when my little baby joins hamster heaven I will enquire.

I would say bury him. it is now only a shell of the living creature, but it's still a nice way to say farewell go. I wouldn't wish to end up in the bin. Bury Him and he'll help fertilize, the garden too.

Bury it. I even buried my fish.

Once, when I was younger, my dad did throw my hamster in the trash. It died while I was at school, and when I got home I was devastated. I even dug through the trash but didn't find her.

The garden is a really nice place to bury your hamster. You can plant a flower on top when the weather is nice and it will remind you of the great joy he/she brought you.
Good luck

My son's Hamster died and we made a nice little resting place for him . Took a cookie tin and lined it with fresh wood chips and then layered of paper towel and placed him on it . My son wrote a small not that said (I will miss you and love you ) Then we took him out and placed him in the ground .We planted a flower on top .I'm sure by this time you have taken care of your Hamster and don't need someone telling you what to do with it .

If ever we sell this house, or in the future some archaeologist should dig around the remains of our house he/she will find the remains of at least two cats in caskets and another in a metal box my dad crafted, numerous pets of my daughter mostly turtles, frogs...I could go on. Throw it out into the "dustbin" (are you from Britain?). No. Garden rules.

If your hamster does die, Sorry to hear about it. If you take it to your local vet, they could assist you in the cremation of your pet and provide an urn for it to rest in. If the pet is as disposable as you make it sound, then throw it away. But, if you are a responsible pet owner, then please provide a proper resting place. It may not have to be in a garden, but check with your local laws to see if it is legal to bury an animal on your own property. If it is not a possibility, then find some other place to bury your beloved pet, but a trash can is no place for a past pet.
