USA is considered by many one of the most powerful country in the world. But back in those days, the "whites"or more well off families hv been extremely cruel to the Blacks/Africican Blacks as mentione din the true story "ROOTS".They "buys" themas slaves, tortured and ill treated them as if they were animals.US keeps saying they are a multi racial country, all must be treated equally. But the true story of "Roots"strongly sugguested otherwise. How can such things happen in a country like US. Can they demand back an apology, monetary compensation for the humiliation, phyiscal torture they received bcak in those days?

I am very sorry that I cannot answer your question ,because I am black myself and I also have Issues with the treatment of blacks in those days , but I have realized that I cannot even focus a little on those times because I was not born in those times nor have I physically experienced it,but my heart cannot take and I have chosen not to watch films that depict us as slaves and African movies because they have to much white man rule about them, but I will say to you, no one will be getting an apology or any money because the white man felt he had had the power to do what he wanted to us because to them we were just animals and that is why they raped the black women and killed the men or maimed their bodies and look around you thats where you get your Proctors. Swanns and Savoys and only God knows who else and me myself I am quite sure there are alot of others.

You do realize that almost every country in the world had slavery LONG before the USA did, right? And the black people in africa were selling their own people as slaves to the europeans just to get money. There is STILL slavery going on today in the world. Why single out the USA? We fought a war so we could abolish slavery and be one nation. Go pick on another country that still condones slavery.

Each person has in their past had negative things happen to us as well as each race. Slavery is certainly a very sad and negative time in USA history but thankfully wise people realized it was wrong and fought to end it. Not a lot of good is done by anyone dwelling on the bad of that past and the best thing for anyone to do is to try to make the future the best that it can be for everyone.

I'm Scot-Irish American. Should I expect the English to repay me for the atrocities perpetrated on my ancestors? (See Braveheart or Rob Roy). Should the Mexican descendants of the Aztecs be all over the Spanish for the way they were treated by the Conquistidors? Should the Persians (Iraquis) be seeking reparations from the Greeks for that massacre at Thermopalae thing?Should the Russians be invading China to get back at the descendants of Ghengis Khan for murdering and enslaving them? Come on. Sh*t happens. Play the hand you're dealt. Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.

They were given their freedom thanks to the civil war.
There is no need to apologize for something that happened more then a century ago. Let alone give a monetary compensation to them. Blacks today didn't live that life.
In that case.. Let's go after the Italians.. The Romans of back then... Whites were slaves to them.. Pay me!
The Egyptians too..
Wait.. I'm Polish.. Let's get the Germans.. They tortured and massacred us.. Lets make them pay..
See how ridiculous that sounds?

African Americans have been asking for compensation but it is very very unlikely they will get it.
As for the slavery, it just happened to be the black man's turn. Slavery is not new--it has been going on for centuries. How about the Jews in Egypt? How about any conquered country by the Romans? etc etc etc
Read your world history before you try using slavery
AS A WAY TO JUSTIFY YOUR HATE FOR AMERICA!!!!!!!

Well, let's think of it this way: The Black population has it easy today, because this is the age in which slavery has been the worst in history, and the slaves are mostly of Oriental ethnicity.
Don't believe me? Look it up.

You bring me someone who was a slave in the U.S. and I'll try to track down someone who owed slaves to pay him compensation.
