Excuse me, but this is a silly question! Wasn't Utley available when you chose Howard in round 1? You didn't take Utley then, why would you consider it now? Unless you have Ortiz available to take 1B, just stay with Howard......when Bonds was healthy, did you ever hear of someone trading him because he got walked a lot?

Utley is great draft choice in the first round. Do you really think Howard is going to walk 500 times? He may get walked, but not that much. I really good hitter is only successful 30% of the time. Ryan also strikes out a lot. He probably won't produce 59 HR's but he will still hit quite a few.
My point is that if you had any brains during the draft, you built your team around his stats. Changing first round drafted players now can ruin a entire team makeup. So if you make the trade you better be able to make up for losing 20 HR's and 30 RBI's.
You would be getting the best 2B in fantasy, but you won't be getting the chance to draft the rest of the team around him.
I almost never trade my first round draft pick for that reason - I drafted the rest of my team based on that pick (I made one exception this year trading Crawford for Soriano but I got Weeks in the deal too and it stayed within my team makeup).

It all depends who you have or can pick up to replace Howard at 1b
Utley to me is a better deal consider 2b is the weakest spot in baseball
You can find a guy that could fill in for howard by trade or FA with a little less stats but you'll have the best 2b in the game

greater effective at what? i choose to assert Utley because of the fact he has been managing injury all 300 and sixty 5 days long and hits for skill and well-known greater effective than Howard. Howard would be greater effective with the skill numbers yet strikes out alot.

I would have to agree with Baseball101. Chase Utley is the best player in a rather limited position, that being 2B.
But it is a rather difficult choice. If I were in your position, however, I would take Utley.

Unless your getting a 2nd good player in the deal, don't do it. Remember the other team COULDN'T draft Howard. U have to make him pay 4 that if u really wanna do that trade.

It's good to know this is the biggest worry in your life. A lot of people would envy you. As far as the pick, flip a coin.
