Also, I've heard that the inside of pampers diapers are yellow and you can't tell if the baby has peed or not unless you touch it, is that true?

I have tried them all- and the ultimate best is Pampers swaddlers for up to size 2, then pampers cruisers. Huggies new supreme stretch ones run a bit small and they leave marks. The others leak or irritate the skin. You will probably try all of them until you decide which you like best, I know I did! But I have my brand. Go pampers!!! :) LOL

I liked Pampers the best with all my children. The Huggies leaked through the sides even though I changed them every two hours. The Luvs were okay, but not as good as pampers. Parent's Choice and White Cloud are awful. They leak so much. Pamper's Swaddlers are the best for newborns because they have a cut out for the umbilical cord. They are not yellow inside. Fittis are hard to find, but they are great. They have smiley faces that fade when wet.

Pampers Swaddlers,(only goes up to size 2) and then the Cruisers. Now he's 2 and I use the regular pampers because they have the stretchy sides now (They didn't before). Luvs gave him a rash, and with the Huggies, he always needed a bigger size than the Pampers. Everything else he peed right through!
A good tip I got: Once your baby is sleeping through the night, put them in a diaper 1 size bigger than they normally wear. It will keep them from wetting through at night : )

orcarspirit : LOL! Looks like we had the same experience! : )

PS The inside of pampers aren't yellow: they're white, with a mesh lining (almost like the dry-weave on an Always maxi pad). But it's easy to tell when they pee with pampers, because the diaper will get mushy. I think it's harder to tell with cheaper diapers, b/c most of them just get bunchy when they're wet.

Back in 2000 when my first was born I tried some Huggies samples and they leaked like crazy so I went with Pampers.

When my 2nd was born in 2003 I stuck w/Pampers until my 3rd was born in 2005. I then tried a new Huggies sample and it worked great! Since I can get them at a discount at Costco I have stuck w/Huggies ever since. I really like how they have a real elastic effect at the waist.

Diaper manufacturers are always improving their products so sometimes it pays to give them another try later, especially if it has been a year or two.

I have heard other friends say that when your baby is very young and has loose stools (like breastfed babies) that you should stick w/better quality diapers because they don't leak as much. As the babies get older and their stools become consistenly more solid then you can downgrade and go w/a store brand.

I haven't tried cloth diapers.

I chose to use Huggies, out of all the name brands I tried they didn't leak as much, this is important with newborns and their runny poop. I say if you are going to use disposable use a name brand. I compared a name brand to a pack of generic I was given and not only was the generic smaller for the same age/weight but it had the old "tape" to secure it, not the reuseable velcro like huggies and pampers.

On the side of cloth though I think if you are considering it GO for it!!! They are so much better for infants and the enviroment. I know lots of people who use them.

Conventional diapers are not biodegradable and 18 billion disposable diapers are thrown away a year (18 BILLION)

Cloth is soft and flexible

Cloth is cheaper then name brand disposables

Cloth diapers make potty training easier as the child can feel when they are wet.

Cloth diapers have been used successfully for centuries.

Cloth diapers have become more convienient. With diaper services who pick up and clean all your diapers (you won't even have to look at them once they are in the diaper bin if you don't want to) and velcro diapers instead of pins they are easy to use then ever before.

Cloth diapers are softer and less likely to irritate a babys skin. There is no strange chemicals like fromaldahyde in cloth, and disposable diapers are very scratchy/rough and don't let the skin breath. All of these can lead to rashes. Generally diaper rash is caused by moisture against the skin, if you change cloth diapers when they are wet your baby will have likely have less rashes then with disposables.

Believe it or not, cloth is now more convenient than disposable. For example, tonight at bedtime, my daughter used the last clean diaper in the house. Now, while she sleeps and I play on the computer, I'm washing diapers! If that had happened with disposables, I would have had to drag two sleepy kids to the PX for a pack of diapers! I also have no diaper rash, no leaks, and fewer weird chemicals in the house. I wash with half a dose of detergent and some baking soda (no bleach ever), and I use a dry-pail for safety reasons. I still dunk the poopy ones in the toilet, but there are products that eliminate dunking. I don't own diaper pins or vinyl pants. I use a Snappi to fasten prefolds and a velcro wrap or a wool soaker for waterproofing. I also use BumGenius for going out. I would never go back to disposables! They're so stinky, leaky and gross. Most people still think that cloth is difficult, inconvenient, leaky and no better for the earth, but that's outdated. Cloth diapers have changed (pardon the pun) since we all wore them, but the disposable companies don't want you to know that. I sincerely hope that you order some fresh diapers and give it a try. Taking care of our babies' health is a big responsibility, and this is one way I help keep my kids healthy.

With four daughters, I think I've tried most of them too.

Pretty much, they all serve the same purpose in the end, to respectively get sh*t on.

My youngest is still in diapers and I get her the White Cloud brand at Wal Mart because they are inexpensive. Waddle, saddle, fladdle, who cares. I'd tie a paper cup around my daughter if I had to.

The only time she ever gets a rash is when I've forgotten to change her diaper. So the rash was brought on by my irresponsibilty rather than the brand and I would venture to say that this happens more than most parents want to admit.

I could never justify spending a lot of money that was basically going to wipe some as*.

I find if you use creams and powder that the child stays pretty rash free regardless of what brand diaper you purchase. But the best solution is changing the child before any soil has time to irritate the skin.

Happy poopy day all!

Pampers swaddlers are the absolute best diapers out there, no comparison, they are so soft and have this mesh absorbent layer so the liquid stay away from the baby's skin and no nasty chemicals, my son never got diaper rash when he wore these. they're kinda the more expensive kind, but hey they work. We tried Luvs (which cost half as much) but they were horrible for us, they have stronger chemicals in them which is how they absorb so much liquid and are so cheap, that gave my son horrible diaper rash. Plus they have a big gap in the front which makes them totally useless for boys. Pampers swaddlers hands down. unfortunately they only go to size two, so now we use huggies baby shaped fit which seem about the same absorbency and softness wise but I like the stretchy sides and hourglass shape of the huggies.

I unquestionably have tried all those manufacturers different than mum and dad selection . I unquestionably have additionally tried White cloud . All those manufacturers worked especially good . i like Huggies the final because of the fact I touched the interior the diaper and it felt so mushy. i did not like luvs a lot because of the fact it appeared to take longer to placed on . i don't think of they the place made out of the form of a toddler backside. Huggies and pampers and white cloud are the only ones i'll apply on my toddler.

I used white cloud forever because they were cheaper but not until I switched to huggies did I realize how great huggies are, with the white cloud My son was leaking and I was doing load after load of laundry, If you can spend the extra on huggies or pamper get them there well worth it :~)
