Malacca which is about 2 hours by bus from KL is a historic city dating back to the 1400s. It is a blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Dutch, Portuguese and British cultures.
Penang an Island 40 mins by air / 5 hours by bus has great resorts, good food and great culture. It is quite historical with thai, british, chinese and malay influence.
Other sites are the tropical rainforest's nearby KL, or some of the beautiful island on the east coast. my favourite is pulau gemia www.gemia.com.my
It is visit malaysia year 2007, there are lots of information / tourist information ceters being set up to assist with your sightseeing and planning.
KL is famous for a diversity of food and smiles....
do enjoy

To first poster:
There is no such place as LAMUT in Malaysia. I think the place your referring to it LUMUT. BTW i went to the link in your post and trust me there is no such place called Lamut in Malaysia. Its either a typo or they got the name wrong.
As for the question go Genting Highlands, go to the Twin Tower and the KL Tower, China Town/Petaling Street. There are many other place you can check the Tourist Information Counter for help

I've been to Lamut and can say it's a shithole. I hope that helps a little.
Edit- Hey fagnut, maybe there could be more than one Lamut in this world. Research before opening your mouth idiot.

Edit again- Does every language in the world spell and pronounce places the same exact way? No, they don't. Some are drastic changes like Japan and Nihon, and some are minor like Canada and Kanada.
