My roommate needs to be there-not me, & people want me there. She charged at me with 2 knives last week & 20 minutes ago she pulled a knife on me & she hid the knives, & the police searched her & they said they couldn't do anything about it, & they told me, her, & the other roommate that if they had to be called again then we ALL would be going to jail & the other roommate had nothing to do with the situation. The psycho roommate is jealous of me because I'm young with a college degree.

Last week the police said she had a right to charge at me with the knives & they took the situation for a joke. This time & last time, the police told me that if I don't like where I'm living, then just leave. But here in NYC, you just can't UP & move somewhere, especially if you have low income.

My landlord wants me evicted & not the psycho roommate, & I have no place else to go. I can't afford to be homeless, in jail, or in the mental hospital.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether a hospital would take you. It takes a lot more to qualify to be there than stress or homelessness. I know you're upset, I'm so sorry. If you're severely depressed you will qualify. There's no shame in this, a hospital will not deny you your dignity.
My suggestion is to stay out of the hospital ( unless you qualify in which case you do need it, so go) and find shelter, think churches and charities like Catholic Charities- they can at least tell you where you can go. No street, no jail. The whole point is to get back on your feet again as soon as possible. With no record.
If you're seeing a therapist, meet with him/her. If not, join a mental health clinic which will assign you a case worker. Case workers are social workers and have plenty of resources to help you in these cases, as well as give you much-needed feedback for situations like this. If they're not helping, find another therapist or caseworker. Believe me, I know how hard it is. Be strong and just do it. And if you don't feel strong enough, do what you can.

U suggest you move out asap , if thats possible ..

If not, i'd personally choose the mental hospital .. Take some music player along with you and stay there for a week till you can find a new place .. YOu'd be fed well and give na bed too !!

The streets are mean but u'll be free ..

The jails are mean but you'll be well fed ..

So it depends, whether you want to be free & having a tough-life or comfortable and having a bad life !!

first of all, maximum "psychological hospitals" will in basic terms settle for you as an inpatient if your are hurting your self, or others around you. i might suggestion you to hunt for counseling, in the previous you're making a decision like that. counting on the place you reside, the quantity of situations you may flow varies in the previous they are going to deliver you to residential. i hit upon it terrible seeing as you hit upon it humorous which you somewhat % to flow decrease back. A medical institution isn't a holiday spot, you flow there to get help and to be in a secure place, no longer blow off the genuine international.

Of the 3, I would say streets or jail would be worse. There are group homes here for people who are mentally ill. If I were you I would check into that. I have a friend who is in one and seems pretty happy.

Being on the street is worse than jail or the hospital. You are safer in jail than on the street.
~The hospital offers so much help. The mental ward is not what you think. There are people with insomnia, depression even eating disorders in the ward. if your are really stressed out or depressed, check yourself in. Its not for wackos, its a safe place for you to get mentle help if yout need it.
~ Do you have family you can stay with?
It really sounds like you need to get out of there, as soon as you can. Even a woman's shelter.
~*~ I wish you well

Maybe you could advertise for a room, or roomate, whatever, but I would sure as heck get out of that situation asap...no matter what the cost..jail would be horrible, mental hospital probably worse, and noone wants to be homeless..Good Luck!

Because of my stupidity, I have encountered two of the three. I have never been in a mental hospital. Being homeless with no money is bad enough, but trust me. I spent half a month in jail, and it was hell!
