First off, Target has some of the cutest clothers at the best prices! The GO international line is done by real designers, this month is Proenza Schuler. You gotta check it out. Next fav cheap but good stores: Forever21, H&M , Wet Seal and Urban Outfitters. These stores specialize in carrying high fashion at low prices, including jewelry and handbags, and they are always right on the trends. Some good fashion mags are People Style watch, Allure and InStyle. They all feature totally wearable clothes that are easy to find at a knock off price. Big trends right now: Bright colors(yellow, blue, lime, fuschia), layering jewelry, which adds personality to a plain outfit of tee shirt and jeans, and retro prints. But get this, as long as you wear it with confidence, anything will look great!!

Girl, you asked a great question! There are a few rules when it comes to a "good" wardrobe. Here are a few good guidelines to get u started:
1. Look for "structured" pieces that can be mixed and matched with MANY different, simpler pieces. Jackets are a good start. A good, solid, structured jacket is great for office hours, but are also great with jeans or a nice skirt.
2. Skirts---to the knee or a little above PLEASE! Paris Hilton is enough trouble on her own. She doesn't need any twins! Skirts are good for the same reasons as jackets. Skirts can be nice for going out, but can also double as part of work attire. Generally, a little flare at the knee gives a nice silouhette and sort of pulls away from the body if you have a larger hip section.
3. As far as pants/jeans goes, darker is better! Darker wash jeans not only look much nicer, they actually make you look smaller in the thigh and hip areas. A good denim jean can be mixed with just about anything. Look for straight legs. Straight leg jeans and dress pants are much more sophisticated, and you get a much nicer, leaner, longer leg with a straight leg as opposed to looking squat in tapered legs or super baggy. Also, another note: your waistline for pants is roughly about 2-3 INCHES BELOW the belly button. Higher than the belly button=grandma-waisted pants.....lower than 2-3 inches below = nasty, skanky, and trashy (we don't need to see your underwear.....I'm sure it's cute, but that's why it's called UNDERwear. It's made to be UNSEEN!).
4. Tops are a big key with any fashion season. You want tops that are durable, comfortable, and able to be mixed and matched with just about anything. Camisoles are a great staple to have. They can be work with a button-down or nice cardigan. They work great for going under just about any top. Layering is another great thing. Try to get several different pieces that can be worn either by themselves or layerd with one another.
5. I hate to talk about it, but it needs to be talked about, because there are a LOT of people in the fashion world that need this advice. FIND GOOD UNDERGARMENTS! Find a bra that is well-fitted, a decent size, and is able to support you where you need it most. Your breasts should roughly be even with, or slightly lower than the arm pit area. It doesn't hurt to go to a nice store (i.e. Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant, etc.) and be professionally fitted for a good bra. They DO actually have people there willing to measure you and help. Underwear is really a matter of preference, but all I can say is if you are wearing a nice, fitted pair of pants, a panty-line looks SOOOOOO awful! I know it sounds weird, but actually try going underwear-less with some great control-top hose or invest in a good, well-fitting thong.
6. Accessories are a MUST with any fashion season! Don't be afraid to mix and match jewelry and bags. Be expressive with your accessories! Find necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. that fit who you are and you taste! And a big thing: shoes + matching bag ARE NOT REQUIRED! Also, be careful that you don't accessorize too much. Too many accessories can break an outfit and make you look gaudy and god-awful.
7. Lastly, take some advice from art and MATCH YOUR COLORS PROPERLY! Opposites are great! Green with red, blue with orange, purple with yellow, white or black with JUST ABOUT anything, etc. And for the love of God, DO NOT EVER WEAR BLACK WITH BROWN! IT IS A FASHION SIN!!!
Happy shopping!
