No teenager talks like the characters in the O.C., One Tree Hill... Do you think watchng shows like that highers teens' expectation of their lives?

I'm a teen and I absolutely HATE THOSE HORRIBLE SHOWS.They are so dramatic and stupid.Ugh! I'm into Spongebob Squarepants and other funny cartoons. For the other teens part of me doesn't think so.

I think every generation has that kind of attitude toward the pop media of the next. Yeah, I think the OC is pretty shallow (though I was a fan at 1st, the show really went downhill) but how is it different than 90210? And the characters on the OC were all pretty moral for the most part and did the right thing in the end.

As for raising expectations, couldn't say. But are elevated expectations so bad? Or are you saying that they just want to consume more without work? Maybe, the lifestyle looks pretty glamorous.

Teens are intelligent enough to know the difference between reality and fiction. TV shows are more of an inspiration for fashion trends and entertainment.

EVERYTHING is an influence to the life of a teenager, so a TV show doesn't exactly place more pressure than peers do.

yea it could be because they are some stupid teens who get brainwashed easily as for the smart ones they just wacth it for entertainment

Yes. Government should control every aspect of our media. we clearly cannot restrain ourselves. Free markets are evil!
