I'm currently on ortho tricyclen and I take it on time. Earlier in last week, around the 12th, I had sex with my boyfriend a few times (before then I was a virgin). On Friday, I got sick and went to the doctor. Before they gave me my medicine, they made me take a pregnancy test because the medication could harm a fetus. It came back negative and I got the medicine. I also told them that I was on the pill so that they could give me medicine that wouldn't interfere with that. I haven't had sex since early that week.

Now, ever since this Wed., I've had a tiny bit of spotting. Today there's a little more blood coming out but not as heavy as my normal periods. My breasts are also sore. I'm really scared.

Also I've been on the pill for almost 4 years now. I was on ortho tricyclen for 3 yrs, then I switched to Seasonale but then I got off because it was really messing with my periods. I went back to ortho tricyclen a couple of months ago. I don't know if this is the cause.

Your body could be used to the birthcontrol so it MIGHT not be working. I would talk to your doctor again. I'm really proud of you for being so responsible. Most people on here say they are scared but they had unprotected sex and I think that is kind of stupid. When I lost my virginity and was on the same pill, I got scared all the time that I was pregnant but I think that happens to a lot of girls that start having sex. Check with your doctor though. I am hoping that your not because if anyone deserves not to be pregnant at a young age, you do, because you have been taking care of yourself. Good luck sweety.

Sorry to tell you this but I was taking Ortho tricyclen when I became pregnant. I had no idea I was pregnant bc I kept getting my periods and spotting. I felt sick and went to the Dr. and found out I was 3 .5 months pregnant. I also switched birth control about 3 months before I got pregnant but I'm almost positive that;s plenty of time for your body to accept the hormone.

It could be that you hormones are just imbalanced. That could be one reason why your breast are sore and you are spotting. But when I kept reading and saw "Seasonale", I began to have doubts. I am now pregnant, and I was on Seasonale for 2 1/2 years!. Continue to take your medications as prescribed, but consult with you doctor about taking a blood test to determine possible pregnancy if you still believe that is a possibility.

The pill can give you symptoms that seem like pregnancy symptoms also. It just sounds like your body is getting used to the pill again. I wouldn't be worried since you took a preg. test and it was negative.

Good Luck!
