how do you know there isnt a sitter there? have you asked?
ask her.... so she knows your aware of it. let her know (be civil now) that you hope she isnt letting them stay home alone, or you'll call social services to address it.
if your children are little, then NO, they are not to be left home alone. its unlawful as well as dangerous.

If you're in the USA, yes, it is illegal to leave children unattended...I'm not sure of the age at which they can be left alone but I waited until mine was 16 and he still didn't behave responsibily. What if there is a fire and they're alone? What if a predator comes to the door, what if a burglar? Yes, tell Child Protective Services and let them investigate...if you wish to hire a PI to help them get a good start and prove you're not a disgruntled ex..that would probably help. If not with CPS then with a judge when you ask him to revisit custody issues. When you wonder if it's right ask yourself the "What if" what if I do nothing and someone is injured or worse yet dies because I said nothing...how would you feel about it then...what if they weren't even your kids and you saw this behaviour? Would you risk the child, or risk the responsible adult??? There's your answer, you knew it all the time.

Depending upon the age of the children and how responsible they are. I hope that you are sincere and not trying to cause trouble out of resentment that she has a new boyfriend. You seem to know an awful lot about her personal business, such as how did you know the boyfriend was new, he could have been an old one. Any way my point is ,if there is a genuine need to be concerned then you should be ,but make sure that it is genuine and not based on anger and trying to get back at her for having a new or old boyfriend.

Young is way too vague, what age are they? I've left my 14 y/o at home for a weekend with the house stocked and entertainment set for the entire time, phone numbers were well placed, and safety procedures gone over, over and over again. If I was going to spend one night getting lucky then I think younger might even be an option. The only problem is a nosy ex sniffing around looking for things to create problems where there are none. I'm divorced, I couldn't imagine being in the same town as my ex let alone being on her street. Lets drop the pretension, your looking for a chance for payback! Hey, I don't blame you! Go after it dude! Just don't hide behind this facade' of just happening to be in the area! I would much rather believe that you just had a premonition of dire circumstances with your kids and had to physically check on them with your own eyes!

Ahhhhhhhhh.....yeah you need to say something. I would go further and get a PI that will video tape it to proove she leaves the kids alone and then go for custody. If she is leaving them alone then that is neglect. Not to put bad thoughts in your mind, but I recently seen on our news where a mother did the same thing and her house caught fire. Don't be put in a situation like that. Act now. You are a good dad for being concerned.
Good luck!

How old are your children? Depending on their age leaving them home alone at night could be illegal. In your case driving by should not be considered stalkerish even if you were doing it on pupose you are just looking out for your kids.

Legally it depends on the age of the children. Under no circumstances should young children be left unattended at home. So what is your opinion, what do you consider young?

Driving by where your kids are sleeping is not stalking. That would be a good time to have the police do a "welfare check" at that residence. Nothing is better evidence than a police report.

YES, call the local authorities, the ex doesn't seem to care what her priorities are.
