you'll know when they start giving you bad looks and all that.. or maybe when you catch them whispering to each other then looking at you with a bad look. OR if an honest friend tells you that they are talking about you (which is a rare event!)

I always laugh when I hear that someone was talking behind my back. If I am important enough that someone needs to focus on me when I am not around then that makes me believe that that person has no life. I know who I am and i do not let words spoken behind my back define me.

If they are talking about you behind your back then they are not your Friends...

If you think someone, who is supposed to be your friend, is talking about you behind your back, then they probably are. you should trust your gut. If someone is your real friend then you wouldn't question that.

If they glare at you are looking at you and start laughing and they stop hanging out with you that's when you need to ask somebody that hangs around them when your not there and ask them if they do.
