i was laying next to my daughter to get her to sleep right now.. and for no reason (i wasnt laying on it weird or anything) my left thumb, index, and middle finger went numb... like when your leg goes to sleep.. thats what it feels like....

i tried moving it around.. and even as i type right now i can still feel it.... its been like this for over 10 min. now...

any one have any idea what it could be?

You pinched or put pressure on the median nerve in your wrist or arm. It runs next to the tendon that conects to the base of your thumb when you look at your wrist. If you type a lot or carry things wrong throughout the day there may be some inflammation that made the nerve more sensitive. Ice and ibuprofen are often helpful.

This is a common symptom of the initial stages of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Give it a few more minutes and see if it goes away. Are you shaking your hand and wiggling your fingers?
