I too love to enjoy my dinner when going out to eat. however, if it were an adult that acted out of control, wouldn't they usually be removed from the premises? I think that the same rule should apply for children, if the parents can not control their own children then they should have to leave. same rule should apply.
just because they are children don't mean that society has to accept their out of control behavior. .. how the heck are they going to learn, if they are not taught the punishments for acting that way..
if you don't get [punished then you continue on acting that way. so punish the parents and the kids. first a warning and if it still continues. let them know that you only give them one warning after that they would have to leave and still have to pay for their meals..
that way the parents won't be so apt to bring in their bratty kids.
get some control on that behavior.

I work at a fast food restaurant and we've actually had to step in and say something to some of these parents. They sit there and eat while the baby screams or the kids shake the snot out of a poor little tree we have.
We also have a YMCA right across the parking lot and a LOT of these kids walk over making all kinds of noise and a huge mess. I mean pickle races down the windows, pop on the floor, fries everywhere, and ketchup on the walls. I've actually kicked a few groups out and come close to calling the cops on a few others. It isn't just hell for those of you that are eating, you can get up and leave, we get stuck with the mess even after they're gone.

i have an out of control child and i hate it when he acts up in a restaurant. so i will apologize to you if mine was one of those children you are talking about. it is very embarassing to me and it upsets me wholly when he does this. mine is only 2 1/2 but that is no excuse. he also is in his terrible 2 stage and i hope that soon he will stop throwing fits. i think mostly it is because he is tired after he eats and i am not done eating yet. you would not believe how many times i have gottten a doogy bag and ate my food cold. once again i am sorry. and i do also go out to eat and want a peaceful meal. less heartburn that way.

I have three children under the age of 6. I take them to restaurants (at least 1 x per week). I refuse to eat the crap they serve at McDonalds and most of other kid friendly restaurants that exist. I have taught my kids to be well behaved. I make sure my youngest is not tired or too fussy before we decide to dine out. I can't say that about most people that have kids at Restaurants (running around, screaming, tantruming, etc.).
Sometimes I want to slap the kid......But most of the time I want to slap the parent for not enforcing better restaurant manners.

Airplanes and busses are by far the worst. But not so much babies, I was flying from Boston to Chicago last month and I had some businessman looking guy (about 320lbs id say) sitting next to me eating peanuts, a sub and something that smelled really strong.. he sniffled alot, coughed every couple of seconds and at the end of it all he started flicking bugars!!!!

I can't. The problems start when parents spoil there children then from there they learn bad behavior is rewarded. This start when parent rewards them for things they should learn to do with out being paid for. I can't stand bad children, and even worse I can't stand the parents of bad children because the parent made them into who they are.

Drives me crazy. What I find worse are out of control children at weddings. They may be family but talk about ruining a moment. Invitations will read: No children under 12 sorry, at my wedding.

I can't stand it because I can't afford to go out for a nice dinner often. When I do I don't want to hear a screaming kid next to me. I am paying for enjoyable not out of control kids.

I really hate this - Its a hard call but I think the staff should maybe say somehting to the parents - as they have a responsibility to provide their customers with a pleasant environment

Me, of course! If somebody knows GODDAMN well that they have children that act out of control in public, then they should leave them with their parents, brother or sister, babysitter, or SOMEBODY who can watch them while they're out eating! I know that MANY Black parents discipline their kids if they begin to act out in public (TRUST me; I KNOW because MY parents did that with my brothers and me when we were growing up)! Black parents do NOT play that $hit!
