Yes, you can be allergic to just rabbits and not other animals. Unfortunately, I have the same problem. I'm fine around any other type of animal except rabbits (I have severe allergies that close my throat up when I get near any rabbit dander/hair).
Sounds like you're allergic.
Also remember that it's Springtime, so it's their natural molting season. Rabbits will be losing a lot more hair right now, and this in turn will aggravate your allergies even more.
Clariton seems to be the best thing I've tried so far, but it only helps so much. I'd definitely recommend it however; if needed.

All animal dander is different. So yes, you can be allergic to the rabbit if you aren't allergic to other animals. You can even be allergic to that specific rabbit if you aren't allergic to some other rabbits. You can be allergic to long haired, but not short haired dogs... just about anything CAN cause an allergy. Try taking some benedryl when you are around it and you should be able to tell pretty quickly.

Yes, you could be allergic. I have a bunny who sheds fur, alot of it, three times a year, and the fur is so fine that it even makes my nose itch. Every animal's fur is different in thickness, etc. The rabbit's fur is really soft and fine. I have to vacuum my house everyday because the fur sheds and gets everywhere. It doesn't settle on the ground it actually flies around in the air it's so light. We inhale it and aacchhoo!!
But, yes but, the best way to truly fine out, is to have an allergy test done at the doctors.

Sure you can be allergic to rabbits and chance are you would be allergic to squirrels, rats, guinea pigs too! Why? Because they are all rodents. It is not the hair that poeple are allergic to, it is the dander (flakes of skin that come off from animals skin).
Nuff information?
