I have a question if someone can help me out that 2 mechanics cannot figure out the problem. My mother has a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero with the V6 engine. It has only 21,000 miles on there. She only puts on about 50 miles a week. The problem is that she is only getting 10 mpg doing her short commute of 10 miles per day to and from work. I have had the upflow O2 sensor and all the fuel injectors replaced to try to resolve the problem. There also seems to be a small problem with gas leaking into the oil pan as well but not very much. When I have driven the car on a long commute it gets great gas mileage, but on the short commutes only 10 mpg. Can anyone help?

Maybe I'm not as good as the other pros on here, but how could gas be leaking into the oil pan? If you replaced the injectors, did you replace the o-rings for them as well? Any fuel leak is bad.Period.

Pull off the battery cables and leave off overnight to reset computer. also make shure gas cap is good. if not tight, or leaking, gas could be evaporating out of tank
