Petsmart has a company policy to not sell rodents as feeders and if you mention feeders they will not sell you a rodent. and the only reason you would buy a pinkie is for feeding, i am in AZ and know there are no laws here for that and its definitely not a federal law but i cannot tell you if your particular state has a law on this issue or not, although if your friend bought a pinkie somewhere else i doubt its a law. this is the reason i will NOT shop at petsmart, so go where your friend went and spend your hard earned money there or go online and buy frozen in bulk.

Unless it is a state law(I live in Ohio) then the petco lady is wrong, but since you got one at a reptile store I doubt it. Some snakes wont eat frozen and thats when I would use live. I`ve bought live ones before.

You are not able to purchase reside pinky mice on-line. They would not live to tell the tale with out their mom's milk at the same time being shipped. You can simplest purchase frozen mice on-line. If you wish to have reside ones, you'll be able to have got to appear for a puppy retailer or feed retailer close you that sells them. You too can check out asking on Craig's List.

no, i used to feed live pinkys to my cornsnake before i realized that there was another option (F/T). although i guess it may depend on what state you live in, but i sort of doubt that since mouse traps are legal in all 50 states. it is your constitutional right as an american to kill mice, damnit! it is not animal abuse anymore than hunting a deer is animal abuse.

having said that, it really is much less humane to feed that way. i would highly suggest switching to frozen/thawed mice. if your snake gets used to eating strictly live, then you may create a bad habit for the entire lifetime of your snake. not to mention the fact that you are scaring the bejesus out of a helpless baby before it is suffocated to death. legally you can do it, but i suggest you find another way...

Now, having said THAT, i have to also say that i give my snake a live adult mouse whenever he stops eating for longer than 1 1/2 months. it seems to help re-initiate his drive to eat. my snake is 7 yrs old and since i switched to frozen mice 5 yrs ago, i have given my snake 3 live mice ( i feed every 2 weeks).

they are not illegal but petco kept having issues with animals being healthy and alot of stores just won't carry them as it is not to the benfit. Look for a reptile store and you should find them

IT IS not illegal, but stores that dont carry them for what they feel is not right will tell you it is not right-the lady was over board stating that it is illegal-some people feel we are animals and feel they will become an animal someday-buddhist thought so they have issues with this. Jesus gave me amazing grace to repent and be born again-John 3 so I see animals are here to serve mankind, but not to be cruel toward them-I do not think eating a mouse by a snake is cruel.
