I have a linksys wifi router connected directly to the cable modem. I have a belkin wifi router connected to the linksys - the belkin's IC jack is connected to one of the 4 linksys ports. All appropriate LED's are lit or blinking.

Linksys: 192.168.1.1 subnet: 255.255.255.0 ch. auto
Belkin: 192.168.2.1 subnet 255.255.255.128 ch: 11
Both have different SSID and both are WEP 64bit encrypted.

When I connect to the LINKSYS I get internet. When I connect to the BELKIN, I have a strong wi-fi connection but no internet.

Do I have to change more settings on the BELKIN? Are they still competing for the same channel, etc?

Do not connect your linksys ethernet port to the Belkins IC port. The IC port is only used when connecting to your ISP using special protocols. This should be your new connections.

Modem connected to Linksys Wan (IC) Port.
Linksys Ethernet Port to Netgear Ethernet Port (Not IC Port)

In the Belkin Router turn off your DHCP Server so all computers connecting to the network will only be served by the Linksys DHCP Server.

Your Belkin router will now act like a Access Point instead of a router.

That should do it......

to do this, you'll need to resetup you network connection. when you plug into the belkin, there should have been a network screen come up that said, new network found. i did this for awhile when i had my wireless linksys and also my phone router hooked together. i did after a time take a router out because there was no reason to keep both hooked together .
