I just saw an episode of In Living Color for the first time in years. It was the classic Homey the Clown sketch. As he hit the others with that stuffed sock, I actually heard loud thwacks. What the devil was in that sock?!

i think it was a bunch of belts, so that he could beat some sense into those kids. always asking stupid questions, i guess that is the best way to make them think smarter

Hopefully it was something soft and they just added sound effects. If not, there were some very sore and pissed actors after each sketch.
