Close the 'end' if you can and then answer it from your point of view. If anyone leaves the 'opening', then jump right through it - you gotta assert yourself!!
If you get 'flack' from said person, just tell it like it is. Don't ask questions with 'split infinitives' tacked on the rear end(no pun)or you're gonna get 'hammered' by a quick thinker.

Well, you can ask the person asking to clarify what they meant or you could answer it with grace and from the best case scenario (if it could be assumed in several ways, chose the safest) Answer it truthfully.

put in as much information as you can to support your thesis. answer in a fact based manner but put the facts in context
