When I turn on a almost E tank of gas my 99 Jeep Cherokee Classic cuts out like its not getting gas for a second and then kicks back in. this only happens when I turn.....could this be a sign for a bad fuel pump?

Irishjen (cool hat you got there),

Put down the Irish whiskey for a second girl.

When your tank is on E, it is nearly empty of gasoline. The little fuel you have in there will slosh left to right opposite the direction your jeep is being turned. The pump sucks fuel from the bottom of the tank near the centerline to the engine via a fuel line. If the gasoline sloshes left or right, the pump has nothing but air to suck to the engine. When the jeep is traveling straight again, the fuel distributes over the bottom of the tank and is sucked.

Could be a sign you need to visit a gas station! When you go around a corner, the low gas flows away from the pump and interrupts the fuel flow for a sec. When you even out,it's able to pull from the low amount left. Not a good practice.Eventually, you will be looking for a new pump if you keep this up.

Sounds to me as if you are just at the bottom of your tank of gas.. A fuel pump normally won't work sometimes and not others.. As a rule a bad fuel pump is just that it doesn't work. Could possibly be a fuel injector but thats just a guess coming out of right field. Most likely just low on gas...

Nope....when you turn since your gas tank is almost on E...the gas that is left is such a little bit that it is moving out of the way of the tube that would suck it up to the engine ,causing a little air bubble. Kind of like when you have a cup with a straw that doesn't quite reach the bottom of the cup ...but you keep turning the cup to try and get the last little bit of your drink out and you get it in little spurts instead of a steady stream. Just go get some gas and you'll be fine.

More than likely it is all of the gas moving away from the pump and momentaraly you are only getting fumes. You should always fill up when that gauge hits 1/4 tank.

No, this is a sign you are running out of gas. Dont trust the guage to be perfectly accurate..... if it is on E then you probably have 1 gallon or less of gas in your tank.

your out of gas---fill er up. also gas is used to cool electic pumps and when you go below 1/4 tank you over heat the pump and it will fail sooner,

you just need gas. If you drive like that all the time it will make your gas fillter get dirty faster, because it is sucking in all the trash out of the bottom of your tank.

Yeah, it sounds like your fuel pump -
You need to get the filters cleaned more
it could be clogged though
go get it checked out
or look on line and there are lots of guides to cleaning/replacing it
