Many young women have irregular periods. There are so many adverse (bad) effects from using birth control like weight gain, hair loss, skin irritation, acne, etc. If you are responsible and can remember to take pills everyday then you may want to try them. But if you're not having sex and you're not that good at remembering to take pills or don't want to experience any adverse effects then baby girl don't even worry about those pills. Get them only when you really need them. i.e when/ if you become sexually active before marriage. Don't trust anything that isn't natural. Ask your doc. how can you regulate your period naturally if possible or do your own research on the internet- that's what it's made for.

at 14 I sure hope your not having sex. And since you are only 14, your periods aren't going to be normal. Just hang in there and as time goes on your body will be normal and you will most likely have your period around the same time every month. But what your Godmother told you about birth controll is correct. You just gotta give your body some time. I wouldn't reccomend it for you. It makes you gain weight. :)

I am now 22 yrs old and i started using birth control when i was around 17. Birth control actually helps you to not get pregnant, and is also helps regulate your period. so your godmother is right. Since your not 18 i don't think you can visit the doctors office by yourself. so next time you go you should bring up your question to the doctor about your irregular period. because if you are missing ur period it might be something else. And ask he/she what should you do about it. (hopefully he or she should mention birth control ). when i asked my doctor she did mention to me about birth control. and it really did regulate my period.

Technically your God-mom is right. They are used to regulate your period (you would have it at exactly the same time every month), but it is a form of "birth-control" or in other words "pregnancy control". I am not sure how much you know about reproduction or where babies come from. You should definitely ask your mother and talk to her about your monthly concerns.Just explain that you think your period is irregular and you want to know what is normal.

NO!!! You dont need them, at least not until you get a lot older birth control is for what your godmother said, to make you not get pregnant that easy, i dont think a 14 year old shold take birth control and i dont think you would be trying to be pregnant yet

I went on them at the same age as you. I was having horrible period symptoms for months. My cramps were terrible and I bled heavily and I would get sick and vomit. I was not having sex at the time either. I had the doctor tell my mom that I was not sexually active, but that she thought the pills would help my symptoms, which they did, and my mom was okay with it. You could ask your godmother to go to the doctor with you if your mom won't support you.

Birth control is used for a lot of different things. Its used to regulate your period, control hormones, and to (of course) prevent pregnancy. I personally dont think you need them because youre 14, so your period still has a couple years to regulate itself. I wouldnt worry about it though, but if you really do have concerns you should talk to your mother and your doctor, just so she sees you have valid reason for concern. Good luck ^_^

At 14 it's not unusual for your periods to be irregular, now if you are sexually active (or thinking about it) then that's a different story.
It's always better to let your body find it's natural rhythm, so I wouldn't rush in to taking the pill.
You really should try talking to your Mom about your period concerns, just try an approach her in a calm moment or maybe ask her friend to help initiate the conversation about it.

Let your period come when it comes. You don't need birth control, to me it sounds like you want it. I had a friend whose mother forced her to take birth control. I did a little research and found out that by taking birth control at an early age you may become sterile. That means you can't have children when you want to, but if that's what you want.

At 14 periods will be irregular until your body is adjusted to having them.
But you are the one only who truley knows if you need birth control.
