A fews months of unbearable pain should sheild you froma lifetime of pain. Too step out the unknown is scary for anyone, but you know you have too...so reach on to the handlebars and do it. A year from now youcould be in love getting mariied etc and free of the pain you feel know.
Also you are doing the person justice, they need to know how you feel as to not hold on to feeling or harbor feelings that will never be requinited?

just be strong and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. it is better to get out now, then to put stuck for another 4 years unhappy. it will hurt now, both you and him.. but in the end it will only get better. don't string him along and make him fall more in love with you. get it over with now, just be nice about it and sit with him and talk with him. there is really no way to make it easier. it's a hard situation and i wish you the best of luck.

if you have been with this man for 4 years and you are unhappy then why would you want to stay with someone that
make you feel this way. you need to get the strenghth to
deal with the fact that you are not happy and that you want
to feel happiness and sweetheart if he not the one then
you are not doing anyone any flavor by staying with someone
that make you feel this way. this is not love. it just that you
dont want to be along and that normal but it about being
happy iwth self.

Don't draw it out any longer - do it like you would remove a bandaid - quickly. It hurts right away really badly, then eases.
