Best case scenario is he will be ready by September...he is recovering from tommy john surgery on his elbow but when the Twins break camp next week he will stay in Florida and continue his rehab. I'm not sure I would tie up a roster spot on a player who might only pitch a few games, if any, later this year.

My suggestion would to go after a late round pitcher like Boof Bosner also of the Twins who follows Santana in the rotation or you may want to look at John Maine of the Mets....both players have huge upsides and may surprise and they are somewhat under the radar in most fantasy leagues.

Hope this info helps, BTW my sources were the Twins web site about Liriano...good luck in your draft.

At best, he'll play in September.

The man went through Tommy John surgery. Recovery from that normally takes a year. The Twins, having tried to rush the guy back in twice last year with disasterous results, have probably learned their lesson and won't rush him again this year.

So, if you have him on your team, drop him. If he's in the free agent market, leave him be. Even if he does play this year, it'll only be a few starts and there is no guarentee he'll be as effective as he was last year.

He is out for the season. If it isn't a keeper league (and if someone cut him loose in a keeper league, they are flat-out ignorant), don't waste a pick on him. You may be able to get him on the cheap next year, but anyone who drafts him this year is not doing their homework.

He will be out for most of if not all of this year, If there is any chance he will come back it won't be till late september, early october and probably just in a relief role.
