Do you believe people who are poor are poor because they are lazy, stupid, or foolish? If you are well-off, did you earn your wealth? Did you inherit it? Either way, do you feel entitled to keep it without sharing it with those less fortunate through charitable donations or paying taxes?

I do *not* believe that poverty is the result of vice--tell that to all the starving people in Darfur. I am not wealthy, but I am now comfortable, after about 12 years of living hand-to-mouth, because I was determined to do work that I liked and felt meaningful; that has finally paid off for me. Do I feel entitled to keep it without sharing--or paying taxes?

I think everyone needs to pay taxes. I think GOOD people share their wealth somehow. But I don't think charitable donations should be required; it's a nice measuring stick by which to differentiate the people I want to know from those I want to avoid.

Poverty is mainly due to Socialism around the world. This is an attitude that claims business and capitalism are evil and government is good. Socialist economies tend to have much more poverty and higher unemployment because businesses cannot afford to grow due the excess regulations and high minimum wage. For example, France has unemployment double that of the US and a much higher suicide rate. Whereas in countries that allow business to operate freely, business can provide jobs to the poor and a climate where they can continue to learn skills to serve others. This results in a progressive increase of income over time as skills improve. Americans are desperate to become a Socialist country so there will be many more poor in the future as business can no longer afford to operate under excess regulations and taxes. That will result in the greatest suffering for the poor.

What a question. The well off are going to say they worked for it, the poor are going to say they got the short end of the stick. It's a matter of perspective. The natural of order of civilization is one of serfs and aristocracy; look clear back to antiquity. We only have had a middle class for a short time and it's disappearing again. Keep it up folks, fight among yourself, call each other names and let the aristocracy completely dominate again. Just ask a clerk for Walmart how they feel about being poor, I'm certain they'll tell you it's because they are stupid and lazy not because they can't find any other source of work and have squandered all of the numerous opportunities that came their way. The rich actually feel that they are Gods chosen; the middle class actually feel that they have money, position and power because they "deserve" it. We're all fools.

In America I have seen many people that are on welfare because of choices that they make. Many of them are too lazy to go to work and have children with out having a father to help support them. We have moms raising children on the money of the tax payers. That is wrong. I have been blessed because my husband and I are both hard workers and have worked our way to the top. We share our money with people that are poor because of issues that are beyond their ability to fix. But I get angry every time I see another young girl sitting on welfare having baby after baby just so that she does not have to go to work and she has a free ride. I have seen these people abuse the kindness of the taxpayer and charities. There are a lot of people out there that think that we (the tax payer) owe them a house, a paycheck for doing nothing, etc. I think that they should be given one mistake, then after that the child must be given up to someone that can afford them. And if you are capible of work you must work. I dispise lazy people, and I am tired of supporting them. I think that if the church was the ones to support the poor, we would have much less fraud, and much less wasted money. The truely poor people, people that have had illness issues in the family, death of the supporter, handicap people in the family, and situations of the same, deserve help. Lazy people don't and neither do second, third, and fourth generation welfare families. Rich people have very compassionate hearts and most of them have worked hard to earn their money. I think that it is wrong of people to expect them to carry the entire burden of the poor. And no one should have to carry the burden of the lazy. One more thing , did you know that the rich people in the U.S. pay 90% of the taxes. Don't let the Democrats fool you by claiming the rich don't pay their fair share. If we did not have rich people to employ the poor we would have a communist government. I like freedom of enterprise.

And I am entitled to keep everything I have worked for and earned....It is unethical to take my money by force and give
it to a group of bums who will vote for those who provide
welfare..
