Spreading by rhizomes makes this an annoyingly invasive plant. Digging it up and removing the roots will help stop it. A general herbicide such as roundup will control it, too. Spray only the plants that you want to control. You could install a barrier to keep it in its place.

While this plant may be annoying, have you checked the prices that nurseries want for pips?
I would suggest digging your excess plants and selling them.

some folks actually want them. Have them come over with their little claw and take some away
