I had the same problem. Go to the printer manufacturers website (like HP, or whoever made your printer) and see if they have the software available for download. If they do, all you have to do is download it and it will install without a problem...if they don't you can either buy a new printer with the software available or wait to see if what you need comes up later.

Microsoft and all the computer experts have told us that NEW drivers will often have to be accessed before complete compatibility is established.

They have also told us (well the experts but not Microsoft) that we should wait 6 months before all those type of glitches are solved.

They have also told us (well PC mag and many editors have anyway) that if you are buying, (as I am) a new VISTA PC it is a good idea to take you printer and scanner down to the dealer (as I am) and say to the dealer :

Let me know when everything is working and I'll be down to pick up my PC and PAY FOR IT.

Meanwhile I am at home, quite happy with my old back-up machine with XP home on it.

Hi, When I got my new Dell with XP,I added my HP printer. It recognized my printer as a foreign object. It really wanted me to have a Dell printer.I would try to reinstall your printer watching the instructions very closely.I think you can fit that printer in your system,a printer is a printer. You are the boss.Good Luck.

it's not working because Vista is so far ahead of XP that it wont recognize your existing software/hardware. there are of course exceptions to that but for the most part, that's the case. here's what you could try though....go to the manufactuer of your printer's website and see if there are any "Vista drivers" that you can install so that Vista recognizes your printer.

-it might be the drivers did you try letting your cpu find and install it?
unplug it then
shut down
restart
then plug it in and restart again.
i think you have to go to your printers web site and get new drivers
