I can think of some good reasons to get rid of gay pride parades

1.They put gay people into a certain context when most gay people are really more towards there own gender in other aspects than there attractions or sexual preference
2. Studies show that not all people are not completely gay or completely straight most of us are somewhere in the middle that being Gay pride is just a minority
3.Pride creates hate any time we have pride parades there are always haters why not stay down low and wait.
4. Makes it hard for people to say that they have an attraction to the same sex to other people. It makes it hard for me and I know countless other people.

So I personally dont like gay pride parades at all.
I am 100% against them. They are stupid and a waist of time. Gives other people more reason to hate us.

The reason I said this is because all i see when they happen is a fight happening and other things happening. No I don't think gay people should go back in hiding I just think we don't need to be so flamboyant. Its rare to be completely straight or completely gay. Most people are a version of bisexual. Some lean towards one way and some lean towards the other. There are lots of men who are saying they like other men but are masculine and are against anal sex. Most people have a certain attraction to both sex. Sexuality is not a pie chart. There is a variety of sexualities some people are only slightly bi while some people are right in the middle. Its just like everything else in life.

I think the people you know should just accept you for who you are. It shouldn't be put in front of the public; especially only one part of the gay community "The flaming homosexuals" I'm sure there are lots of women who show femininity and men who show masculinity and are afraid because of the stereotype of gay people.

Then don't go.

1. Your first sentence doesn't make sense. You should clarify what you mean.
2. Just because someone doesn't meet your criteria of entirely gay, doesn't mean that raising the awareness of gay and lesbian people as full citizens has no bearing on life.
3. Anything that acknowledges the existence of gay people creates hate. From your standard, we should climb back in the closet and let people pretend we don't exist.
4. How gay pride makes it hard for you to come out is not reasonable. Were it not for people who came out, you would probably not be aware the other gay people existed AT ALL.

BY THE WAY: your statements indicate that you may be suffering from a significant amount of internalized homophobia. If you're not sure what that term means, look it up. Or ask about it on Y!A.

I am not gay but I went to two gay pride parades and I think they are a lot of fun to watch. Not only the parade goers but the christian fanatics that get all bent out of shape yelling and giving terribly cruel angry looks. Anyone can have a parade if they have a parade permit unless you think they don't deserve the same rights you have. Maybe you do something in your life the rest of us don't like and we need to fix your wagon.

It puts homosexuality under the microscope. I have to explain to my son why Ike and Mike are french-kissing on the street. That is something that I don't even do with his mother outside of our personal spaces. Nevertheless when it's gay pride day does that mean anything goes for someone who chooses to be gay? I think not!

don't like them? don't go to them! no one is making you.
your first "item" is worded in a way that is very confusing...what exactly do you mean here? most gay people are "more towards" there (sic) own gender? well, duh! that's why we're gay, Einstein!
2. all straight people I know are completely straight. all gay people I know are completely gay/lesbian (including myself). anyone in between is bisexual. "being Gay pride"...are you reading what you are typing? yeah, duh! we know we're a minority!
3. pride creates hate? no, bigots create hate. why should we be ashamed of being who we are? are you not ashamed of being an obviously ignorant bigot?
4. makes it hard for people to come out to other people? no! bigots make that hard! it took me a while, but I AM out to everyone, friends, family and coworkers...and they all accept me.

personally, I don't like bigots. I am 100% against them. I think they are a waste of space on this planet. they abuse, harass, assault, and they start wars! what good are they? by posting these kinds of "questions" (i.e. actually posting statements of hate) on these forums, they only further confirm to the rest of the planet what hateful fools they are. gives intelligent people more reason to hate them.

I don't think your arguments make any sense. You sound silly. You aren't invited to any more pride parades, you are a parade-pooper. I don't think having fun celebrating who you are (full or part-time), or who your friend/family member is is a waste of time at all.

i don't think gay pride parades are necessary because gay pride should be within that persons heart and expressed throughout there life not just in a big parade that causes alot of drama.....and plus if heterosexuals had a straight pride parade we would get offended.....its our life to live as we wish and why throw it in everyones face......just be proud of who u are and be urself....

No matter what we do people will always find something about us to justify there hate for us. The parades are (to me) a symbol that even though we are hated and beaten and killed and the victims of injustice. We are still proud of what we are and we are there for others like us. I like the parades(even though i have never been to one, but i plan on going)!

GET OVER IT!

ALL Parades call attention to certain cultures, religions, religious days/holidays, neighborhoods...etc!
THAT'S THE POINT OF A PARADE!! Silly!

Mardi Gras is a CATHOLIC holiday celebration, that calls attention to lascivious and over sexualized behavior among heterosexual!

So what's your point...really?

I do concur they are not for me either I avoid them like the plague, they also help stereyotype gay people with the drag queens, the men in leather etc.... I wouldnt say we should do away with them if people want to flaunt its their right. Just not for me

I don't think so. It's their right. If you don't like them, then don't attend them, and to pay any attention to them. Its not hurting you any...

I think that since you say that Gay pride is a minority, and we should get rid of their parades, then shouldn't we get rid of African American parades? I think not! :D
