Someone who believes in self-government; that people in the country are self-controlled and disciplined enough to live with less government. The Republicans increased the size of the govt by 40% the last 12 years. This is the exact opposite of what I believe we need. I want a President who would get rid of the departments of education, labor, housing, Nasa and support capitilism and free markets. Of course this is the opposite of what most folks want. America and our leaders are desperate to be a Socialist country like Europe.

I'm looking for a candidate who believes that the problems of this generation should be solved by this generation, not passed on to our kids. I want to stop deficit spending and start paying off the debt. I want the problem of carbon emissions to be solved as soon as possible, not after it's too late. Too many times, politicians create these grand plans that don't do anything until they are long out of office (like Bush's recent plan to balance the budget by 2011). We need people who are willing to take action and who can make people understand why it is necessary, even though it's going to raise your taxes.
We tell our kids to take responsibility for their actions. How can they, when it's obvious that our leaders don't?

Someone who has a good heart and knows right from wrong. However; it is clearly time for the American people to decide who that person is; not the politicians and or the media. They tell us who is running, who to vote for, and even who will probably win. The politicians choose the candidates behind the scenes and introduce them to the special interest groups that will agree to finance them and remove any past inequities in exchange for future votes. We the people need to start selecting the candidates and fund them ourselves and then follow through and hold them accountable.

A down to earth openly honest practical person of integrity who will not initiate new sweeping changes, but will focus on strengthening the foundation of our country by addressing and resolving issues we already have on our plate.

I'm looking for candidates that aren't seditious, defined as follows:
They know how to disagree, dissent, or even protest. Those are patriotic.
They DON'T call our elected officials names, spread unfounded rumors, treat them as "guilty until proven innocent", and especially they don't aid our enemies in any way, even to make a point.
I'm hoping for a democrat (I'm a democrat and patriot), but I'm not sure I'm going to get it.
