If you are in the UK contact your local Welfare Rights Service or Citizens Advice Bureau.

Disability Living Allowance is based on what you can't do without help, so you have to demonstrate what things you experience that able people don't and how often you need help for these things. It has different categories for the kind of care you need and also for your mobility. It would help if you can see your GP and tell them about the problems you are having as DLA often contact your Doctor for evidence. It carries more weight if you can get a Social Worker or health professional to support you with your application. It is only awarded if your condition is likely to continue for some time.

If you are unable to work or signing then Incapacity benefit is awarded if you have a Doctors note for 6 months. AND if you have enough contributions. You can be awarded it without contributions, then it is paid by IS. Which at least frees you from JSA signings

good luck

Obtain the services of an attorney that specializes in social security disability. It's important for the attorney to answer the question as to being able to return to the kind of work you once did. Have you been to vocational rehabilitation.?
It's worth whatever it takes and when your done the attorney is paid from the "back pay" of when your disability started.
You have to be very patient for this process it is "set up" to out last you and put you back to work even if it's out of frustration for living expenses etc...You can take small work assignments unless you are completely unable. Then you just need a good attorney to do the rest.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, when you do get through this if this wasn't a random act, you need to reassess your life to figure why God put you here and then run, don't walk from where you are that got you in this.

You need to contact the Social Service Dept. in your area and start from there and/or contact the hospital that originally treated you and see if they have a counseling service that could hook you up with the right people to assist.

Whatever you do, don't give up on the system or the rest of us, you matter, your pain matters and your tomorrows matter. Be well, live well and let this be the beginning of the rest of your life.

The system will fight you. Get an attorney who specializes in helping clients getting their disability benefits when they are being denied. There is no fee if you do not collect. The fee is based on how much you collect from the government. My daughter had to do that, and she was born with a liver disease with cirrhosis. She was denied for 4 years before, and the attorney had a settle with the back payments within 6 months.

the hospital you were treated should have a social worker who will contact the social and disability services on your behalf( with your permission ) and they should be able to sort all your problems out for you if not try citizens advice
