It is generally a personal preference as to whether one perfers being called a Latino or Hispanic. I'm pretty sure that both are usually interchangabel, but if you want to be politically correct:

"The term "Latino" refers to all residents of the United States from Latin America countries whose language is Spanish. The term "Hispanic," which was adopted by the U.S. government for the purpose of allocating resources and enforcing equal opportunity laws, is the nationally accepted term for people of Spanish descent regardless of race, he explained. "

Chicano(a) is specifically from Mexico

Mexico is named after the Amerindian tribe the Mexica or MECha. So we could look into this spelling and its origins. It comes from Nahuatl language. Now Xicano is likewise Chicano = MeXicano that's truly contained in the notice Mexican or Mexicano so it ability Mexicans in ordinary terms it has greater community emphasis. the challenge with many ignorant Mexicans is they do no longer recognize there very own historic previous fairly in Mexico. Theyd do no longer recognize that initially the MECha people Mexica people or Aztecs got here from the Southwest of what's now usa which use to hitch Mexic. Classical Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs, and its present day family contributors contributors are component of the Uto-Aztecan family contributors

hispanic and latino is not inter-changable

Hispanic is anyone from a spanish speaking country ..
Latinos are anyone from countries of latin descent.. such as the French .. Spanish, Portuguese, Italians, Brazilians ect.

So hispanics are latinos... but not all latinos are hispanic.

as to Chicano.. thats only for mexicans
