If poli means many in Latin, and tics are blood sucking insects ?then why is it politics.

You are thinking about "Poly" as meaning many. "Poli" means metropolitan or method of government.

"tics" in Latin or Greek is defined as the art, science of, or study of something.

So Politics, therefore, is the science of governing or government.

Maybe it is an Anglo or Phoenician derived word
