As long as they are dress pants/slacks, or a pant suit is suitable. Just remember, make sure it's not white!!

Depends on the setting.
Is it Evening, or Indoors? Those are usually formal... so, suits for men, dresses for women.
If it's on the beach, listed as casual, or in an offbeat setting - you can probably get away with a dressy pant-outfit.
I could see getting away with being a woman wearing pants where the ceremony was taking place immediately before the bride and groom sky dive out of a plane, for example.
Find out if the wedding is formal or casual - and you'll have your answer.
Peace.

You bet! I have a classy pair of black silk pants that I have worn to MANY a wedding. I pair them with a bright silk charmeuse tank - fuschia or rust colored - and a "kimona" style multi-colored striped silk jacket and some strappy heels and matching bag. It never occurred to me that it was not appropriate and I am the kind of woman that NEVER wears white shoes and bag before Memorial Day or after Labor Day.

I personally wouldn't want someone pantsless at my wedding! Just kidding. In this day and age dress pants are fine to a wedding and even better if you are a guy!

Yes of course, but if you are a girl its usually better if you wear a dress. I think a nice pair of white pants with a black or white top to match would look amazing!

Yes it is. It should be the right kind. You can try:
1.) Blazers on pants like this one: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod40600033&parentId=cat12110759&masterId=cat12110753&index=10&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat000111cat12110753cat12110759
2.) The classic suit, has a very nice cut: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod35501001&parentId=cat12110759&masterId=cat12110753&index=27&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat000111cat12110753cat12110759
3.) My highly recommended outfit for you, consists of twill pants, it's a good, non-serious color: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod35890220&parentId=cat12110759&masterId=cat12110753&index=37&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat000111cat12110753cat12110759
The pictures show models with their hair down, since you are going to a wedding, put your hair up, or have someone fix it with more volume or in a sophisticated bun.
To not look like you are going to the office, wear nice accessories. pick out jewelry that shines. (diamonds, swarovskis)
If you like the first two suits I recommended, please pick them out in a lighter color. Weddings are supposed to be happy so as much as possible no dark colors. Light colors such as baby blue, pink, cream, mint green would do beautifully.
Good luck!

How formal is the wedding?
Are you male/female?
I'd say, as long as they're dress pants/slacks with a nice dress shirt, it's okay.
