Do you feel sympathy toward men as they are trapped in a world where they feel that they cannot express themselves emotionally to one another and instead feel that they must hide behind a mask of 'toughness'?

men are no longer trapped in not being able to express themselves. Our society has become more open to the male showing sensitivity. If a guy decides to hide behind a mask of toughness, what is he hiding from all to see. Too many men die of heart disease because they try to be hardened.
In reality men are the weaker sex, they cannot handle pain as a woman can and they are afraid to show their emotions. Be a real man for me, means you are sympathetic to my needs and you are sensitive to your own.

Sympathy is not the word.. Cowardly, might be better. What are you afraid of? Women like Hilary and Nancy? YOU SHOULD BE! The liberal LEFT -'call em female if ya like but they aren't' would like to dis-ball ALL men.

You are not trapped! You be the man you should be. And ignore so-called women who tell you that you cannot cry or feel pain, or need physical affection from friends. Forget those women who would stomp you down along with their retard husbands. Men should have stood up and been the MAN back in the 70's when women decided to 'ROAR'. WE NEED MEN! NOT LIBERATION FROM THEM!

well its kinda a two sided answere on one side we want men to be tough so they can prove to us that they can protect us but also be sensitive enough to where they can understand us on an emotional level now not all men are like this some are just born tough guys and some are just really sensitive one or u got the guys that were harassed when they were younger and had to toughen up magerly to not get picked on so any way u look at it u have the girls who feel sorry for them or u have the girls who dont who think all guys are tough guys or wimps

I think no matter how our society labels men in being strong and tought, men need appreciation. And when they dont get this appreciation and acceptance from women, it blocks them to express themselves. There is an expression "A man is a head and a woman is a shoulder", it means that a man takes decisions and leads in life, but it's up to a woman to encourage him.

When a woman dominates a man and does everything by herself, he would feel that she doesnt need him and he will shout down.

So your wondering would a women think that a guy is a sissy for expressing his opinions right? I don't think that about anyone I think however you express yourself is the way you feel. Expressing to another guy is same if you were expressing to a girl.It doesn't matter all people have feelings and from time to time it needs to come out. I think if a guy cries that's his true feelings. So that later you can kiss and make it better.

i do totally feel sympathy sometimes but not really cos if im suppose to be a kept women and be his trophy then the dude best provide. Being tough isn't necessarily important but standing tall is. I love my bf because i look up to him.... Most girls cant look up to a man who is weak but she can feel sorry for him and what man wants that.

Its not a matter of sympathy but one of respect. If a man is not in touch with himself and can't open up then all you have is a charade of a person. I dont bother with people (men or women) who are like that. Pity maybe.

Yes, I feel sympathy. But, I also think that some women might feel that way, too. I know that sometime it's hard for me to open up. So.. I sort of can relate.

i never really thought about it that much before, but i guess all along i really did.
i have 3 brothers, and the 2 older ones always yell at my younger one (he's 13) to stop crying if he ever does, which is even rare. they tell him to toughen up and stop being a girl (which is kind of offensive to me, actually).
i think all people should be able to express themselves however they want.

I feel sorry for those who conceal what they really feel in fear of being vulnerable to others. but they should realize that showing what others would consider "signs of weakness" is the toughest thing a guy would do. (ex. crying over someone who passed away, venturing into "sissy things" because that really is his hearts desire/passion, etc.) showing emotion is normal. and they are "tough" for doing so. :)
