What are good rock songs that aren't mainstream and aren't obviously good like Pink Floyd or AC/DC?

by not mainstream you mean...? my chemical romance is a good melodic rock band. linkin park take nu-metal-rap/rock-hard rock genre to the next level. but i can't say any more because the "not mainstream" part. elaboration would be appreciated.

try Thin Lizzy, like 'cowboy song' or 'jailbreak', or a little Motorhead like 'im so bad baby i dont care' or 'eat the rich' or 'the chase is better than the catch' or some Mercyful Fate somethin like 'curse of the pharoh' because as were all aware rock attained perfection in 1979. and im only 23 and i know that, it's a scientific fact.

I good way to discover new music is to go to http://www.pandora.com You can input a song or a band, or multiple songs and bands, and it will play bands like that band. You can say whether you like or don't like that band, and it will change what it plays according to what you have said. I use it and its really great to use.
