i think this because life only serves a purpose. and that is to sustain life and continue with the evolution process. nothing more nothing less. no meaning just a purpose.

however, the experiencer of life can make a meaning out of his temorary existence. but one individuals meaning to life is different to another individuals meaning to his life. both are different experiences with different subjective opinions to the importance of there private existences. neither is more right nor wrong then the others. the only "meaning" or "value" to life is the one that you give to it. there is NO definitive objectified meaning to life. only the one you give to it. and thats it, and all that matter is how you see it. so in the end there is no definate answer to the meaning of life because there isnt one. just a short lived opinion of millions of others. what do you think?

BTW: please dont answer with god theories. at no point does god make sense in anything in reality accept to religeon.

The meaning of life is love. Without love it will seem meaningless. Love yourself, love others, love the world. Appreciate the beauty that is there. Look at a tree. Watch the sunrise. Look into someone's eyes. Do you think this beauty is an accident? Just some random act? No we are all works of art. We were created with love & we are meant to create and to love. Make the most of this life. Do things that you love. Enjoy hobbies, passions. Life isn't a chore, it's a joy. Have fun. Enjoy the journey wherever it leads.

Even if you don't believe in religion, believe in nature. Take a walk in the woods. Watch the sun rise & set. Sit by the lake, listen to the waves. Fill your heart with love. You have closed yourself off from love so life seems bleak & meaningless. Open up. Let love in.

The meaning of life is yours, mine and ours.
Fine tuning your appreciation of life and learning it's lessons is what this all about.
Faith, love and giving are all important traits. Discovering the truth that overcoming experiences and living a life of goodness, building your character and developing personal depth are part of the process.
The sad truth is we as people are so busy accumulating things, acting superficial and chasing youth, and most importantly placing emphasis and value on those with money that we lose site of the fact these traits are are nothing upon the act of death.
I have never heard anyone pray for more money or a more youthful appearance while facing a life-threatening situation.
Find God, really look at life, and think more of others and less of yourself.

Well there is always the immortality of reproduction, or creating some great work of art or literature, etc. but it's true that countless billions of people in the last 11,000 years alone have come and gone, since the developement of agriculture, domestication of animals, construction of buildings, communities, etc. have developed. What makes it important is how you and the people most important to you live. Enjoy life. I don't enjoy "political correctness" and I say down with it! PS "Hitchiker's Guide To The Universe" pretty well covers the God angle, but don't knock what works for others. At the last breath we all hope our life was for something, and that there is something beyond, not just rotting away to dust. But words can be immortal, at least until the next civilization implosion. Write something memorable, like "Bong hits for Jesus".

Part of the meaning of life is to discover one's own meaning for life. In a way, it sounds circular. However, a common universal goal of finding one's own subjective goal is quite sensible after a bit of thought.

I won't give you any deep religious theories here, but perhaps there is meaning in each person's own struggle in deciding whether there is a higher power, and if that higher power exists, whether it is of a religious nature or simply cosmic. Some people find themselves to be the highest power, this in itself is a path for that struggle. You have clearly made your choice in this matter.

We have a biological purpose, this much is certain. However, our sentient thought has driven us to philosophy, such that we seek meanings. Perhaps we would be driven mad if we did not seek greater meaning in a world that no one man can completely understand. Perhaps, our search for meaning is what drives us mad, and our unique understanding of our own being is in itself, an anomaly which goes against our biological purpose.

Regardless, it is my belief that any universal meaning to life is one that must be discovered, not taught. As I am myself, and can never be another person, I can never truly know the perception of others and whether my understanding of meaning could even possibly be the same as others, let alone whether it is. However, to the greatest of my understanding, I find that the search for meaning is in itself meaningful, and something that all people will contemplate given the means to do so.

Ah, I dunno about that. I would have to say that there is most likely a meaning to life more than just sitting here and reproducing. I'd say the meaning of life is to make a difference, to leave your mark on the world in a positive way. If you've died without even doing anything, even if you reproduced, you didn't contribute to the world, and you failed, in my opinion.

See, the meaning of life is to leave your mark on the world. Right now, we've got problems in the world that we as a species need to figure out how to solve.

We need to figure out how to get our hides off of Earth, for one thing. Space research is doing incredibly well, but more could be put into it. The sun is going to eventually end its life cycle as a star, and become a Red Giant, which would engulf the Earth with its mass.

We need to figure out how to keep nukes out of the hands of dictators. We can't have North Korea, or Iran, or anywhere producing nukes. It's not that we should in the U.S., either. We need to ban nukes, because they are so destructive, it's pointless. We need to join together as a species in order to solve the bigger problems.

Lastly, we've got global warming. Obviously, this has finally been proven, and there is some action going on to prevent it. But, I'd have to say that this planet is like a ticking time bomb. We can basically either try to stop global warming, or again, get our butts off of Earth.

So sure, you can live, reproduce, and die, but that's definetly not a fullfilled life. In order for a person to have succeeded in life, they'd have to at least do something to leave a positive impact on the world.

We need to settle down, forget about money, and start researching the things that are actually important for the survival of the human race. We need to stop blowing ourselves and our planet up, or we're all going to pay dearly, which we're already starting to see with the increased hurricanes.

Bottom line: I'm not positive if there's a meaning to life, but if there is, it's gotta be to help out humanity in one of its many growing problems.

I wrote this completely by myself.

There is no meaning to Chocolate Cake, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Actually, that realization should be your most liberating and engergizing. Now you can assign your own meaning, your own cause, without worrying about violating some natural (or supernatural) law. Have a blast. Enjoy your chocolate cake!

Since everything that is in motion must be moved by something, let us suppose there is a thing in motion which was moved by something else in motion, and that by something else, and so on. but this series cannot go on to infinity, so there must be some first mover.
- Aristotle

On the matter of motion, Aristotle acknowledged the existence of God.

I suggest you quit feeling sorry for yourself and go out and actually live your life. Your post is unoriginally, lacks substance, devoid of any real thought except, WOOOOOEEE's me. Grow up, get a grip, suck out the marrow of life and enjoy it for it's pain.

Good Luck.

Welcome to nihilism.

The question, now, is:
What do you do with the rest of your life?

Join a political party. Choose some irrelevant issue and get behind it. Get married, or not, and procreate. Make more humans without a meaning.

Clone yourself all over the world.

It doesn't really matter, does it, because life has no meaning.

It's all on you now.

It's all on you.

The purpose of all life is to reproduce. You can put meaning into it in anyway you want..... it's a blank canvas.

Your life can have whatever meaning you choose to give it. You are "condemned to be free". Personally, I think that is a joyful cause for celebration.
