look all these answers are going to be biased in one way or another but in all actuality it depends on the dopamine levle going through our systems dopamine is what causes our adiction and if we do something to bring our dopamine level higher we will necome adicted like as how some people are adicted to sports thats their dopamine reactors opening up others adicted to playing music also dopamine reactors and of course there are drugs like with marijuana help with the dopamine reactors due to the mind altering substance and yes ive studied medical stuff because peple are wierd and must be studied now if you dont mind im going to go back to playing my xbox 360 for the 17th hour straight your lucky i needed a pee break also if your an xbox 360 gamer look for a gamertag with the same name as my name on here oh yeah and enjoy your addiction cuz they are fun

My Brother plays them 24-7 It's a matter of prioritys. If you hate to socialize with people then games might be more fun. If you are a bit analytical then you would like games too. If you love people and are a results oriented person, games may not suite you.

They are challeging, yet the same and everytime you get a little further and a little further till eveuntually you conquer the game and taste victory. It challanges people, and makes them feel like accomplised something challenging. The graphics and sound are awsome. There are so many verietys that you could find a game you would like.

I play fighting games once in a blue moon. I'm not a video game person myself. I just feel like I have way too much to do. I can't invest my time into a video game. A friend of mine had practiced a lot. I was beating him round after round while having a conversation with his wife. LOL ya it's hand eye cordination too and catching on to patterns.

Well, I had a friend who lost EVERYTHING to world of Warcraft. It was pathetic.

He lost confidence in himself, and retreated to a place where he could have private friends, and at least be powerful on a playing field.

Plus, these games are designed to hook you. There is a reason that a lot of video game players can't just stop playing at any time: these games are designed to make you want more once you are "under the spell"

I don't know why particular people get addicted. Some people just get addicted easily. I bet a lot of those people that get addicted are introverted.

Video games are addicting because we all wanna dominate something, if it cant be our life, it has to be a virtual environment. Thats why Warcraft sales are off the charts, its a virtual world to dominate on.

Addicts get some control over their lives, just like everyone else's lives these are also uncertain, if they have a goal to accomplish. I really feel bad and sorry for someone who takes so much time to play video games when all it makes them at the end is more unhappy than bfore.

Its a fantasy. It's as easy to fall deep into a video game as it is a movie or book. Actually its easier because you are far more interactive within the story. For very competitive people its a way to vent there competitive streak, like playing a pick up game of basketball except less tiring!

Like drugs, video games offer immediate rewards that are very disproportianate to the effort required. You twiddle your thumbs around a little bit and are hailed as a big winner. How is real life supposed to compete with that?

I think that it has to do with the same compulsive behavior as alcoholism or gambling. Something triggers in their head and they can't turn away...pretty soon they forget to go to bed or eat, and the rest of the world becomes completely non-existant. And believe me it is just as difficult to get them to stop as any other addiction...like talking to a brick wall especially when they don't see it as a problem.

Mostly because they prefer the artificial world where they have full control to the real one where people interfere with their version of reality.

In the game zone, you cannot be really hurt by others, but can inflict as much "artificial" damag on others as they want.

They're fun...

Video games are easily addictive, especially if they have a particular thing that sparks your interest.

because they got nothing better to do. They go into this state where they only concentrate on a certain subject, in this case video games.
